Epic Local Pass $600
Max Pass $600 (early season)
$1200 = skiing at the best resorts in North America.
What's Killington's main pass -- over $1000K right?
Expect pass prices to come down sharply -- and daily ticket prices sharply rise -- or we will see resorts start to fold.

It will be interesting to see if Stowe is included in the bargin Epic pass pricing structure or will there be a premium attached to include Stowe.

Re: Vail buys Stowe
So far, they haven't attached any sort of premiums to their passes.Big Bob wrote:It will be interesting to see if Stowe is included in the bargin Epic pass pricing structure or will there be a premium attached to include Stowe.
The Epic Local Pass ($600) has 10 days for use (except peak days) at Vail and Beaver Creek. They even gave users 5 days at Whistler this season.
The Epic Pass ($800) has no restrictions, and also got 5 days at Whistler.
They didn't add any restrictions to Park City when they bought the Canyons from Powdr (a much bigger $$$ purchase IIRC).
The talk up at Whistler was how much pass prices would come down in the off-season when Vail officially took over everything.

Re: Vail buys Stowe
Stowe has had major crowding problems for the last 15+ years. Even with the new quads on Spruce. There's no way you'll be getting Stowe on an epic local pass for $600.

Re: Vail buys Stowe
Stowe locals will welcome Epic pass.
The impact at Stowe will fall on facilities and operations as people from parts unknown will now flock there.
Heck, MTN could raise it $100-$200 and wouldn't face much pushback.
A few weeks ago at Whistler, seemingly everyone we met there was from Australia .. all of them skiing on an Epic Pass.
Australia has Perisher, but nobody we spoke with ever goes there. Easier to fly (14hrs) to Vancouver and visit the Alpine.
So happy Wilmot is on there

Re: Vail buys Stowe
Vail gains access to Stowe's upscale client base, which is good for their western resorts. Stowe gains access to Vail's bottom feeders who like their cheap passes. I can't call this is a win for Stowe aficionados, other than saving them a bunch of money on season passes at the expense of even more crowding. Having a heavy hitter with deep pockets in New England will be good to break up the existing "which resort can invest the least in their infrastructure stalemate". Right now it appears NE only see new lifts when old ones catastrophically fail. If Vail is serious about selling more Epic passes, they're not done: they will be adding to their Eastern portfolio.

If you bought a condo at Spruce Peak for an average of $750,000 you might not be happy about this.

Re: Vail buys Stowe
If you rent it - it's a homerun - If you bought it to ski at Stowe every weekend - you just lost - but your investment is in better shape.freeski wrote:If you bought a condo at Spruce Peak for an average of $750,000 you might not be happy about this.

It will be interesting to see the reaction of the town - things are going to get busier.
If you own a business - great - if you like you 'quaint New England town' not so great.

Stopped into the sales office on Spruce Peak a few years back. An eighth of a time share was 350 grand. Never left anywhere before feeling that poor. Only ski there once in a while now. Love the terrain, vibe and Alchemist brewery access.

Re: Vail buys Stowe
Why does anyone really think this will cause K to spend and cash on lifts, buildings, etc.
They have their plan and bet they will stick to it, if that means spending no $$,that's what they will do.
It's very wishful thinking that K will lower the price of the passes but it remains to be seen.
Same with lifts.
