Sunday River lodging

Post by BobbyVT »

Any thoughts on Sunday River lodging? Pre Xmas week. Our daughter is participating in a race camp with Gould.

What are your preferences? On Hill? In town? Condo? House? Hotel? As cheap as possible?

The Gould Competition Center is at the base of Barker, so very central. Any of the condos around South Ridge / North Peak are a single lift ride away.

Anything downhill of Barker requires either riding the WhiteCap (Tempest) lift to get out of that base area, and that is a slow quad, or taking the Little White Cap and White Heat Quads (Both slow quads), and pre-Christmas, you run the risk that those lifts aren't quite open yet, and would have to drive up to Barker.

If you'd rather stay in town, then driving is likely what you're doing anyway, so that part becomes irrelevant.

Depends on what the conditions will be and how much you want to pay. If the Summit has ski in/out, that's a good choice. Jordan is nice but too far out. Use VRBO/Home Away/Air bnb if you want a condo or house. Lots of motel options in Bethel. If you want to bring your dog, I highly recommend Paws Inn in Bethel. Check out Trip Advisor.

If you stay at a Sunday River Hotel, there are free shuttles that will get you to any base area. The Sunday River shuttles are free to any skier and do go from base area to base area as well as the hotels.

If you pick a place off mountain, you can use the http://mountainexplorer.org/ to get from downtown to and from the mountain. While 18-19 schedules are not posted yet, it remains a great way to get around and skip parking.
