You don't need a Bible to be a Christian, so your point is not valid and like you said; you're not an expert.XtremeJibber2001 wrote:By no means an expert, but the Bible speaks for itself.madhatter wrote:you'd think that works the same way with gender yet many disagree...but surely yer an authority on religion... we'll tell donald you've revoked his credentials...XtremeJibber2001 wrote:If you learn more about Christianity, you can’t just call yourself a Christian and then you’re a Christian.daytripper wrote:Religion in this country is a choice. I'm sure POTUS is extremely pious, but as a former second rate reality TV personality, he knows all too well the value of perception.daytripper wrote:

Only 1 in 4 Americans see Donald Trump as a man of faith
It appears not many voters are buying his recent "man of faith" shtick accept perhaps his ardent supporters - gotta do what he tells you to do.Politico wrote: As President Donald Trump leans on religion to reconnect with his political base ahead of the November election, most Americans dismiss the notion that he himself is a man of faith.
Only 27 percent of registered voters in a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll said they somewhat or strongly agree that Trump himself is religious, while 55 percent somewhat or strongly disagree. Among subgroups, just over a third of all Christians view the president as religious (50 percent do not), while 23 percent of Catholics and 18 percent of independents see him that way.
Evangelicals were more likely to view Trump as religious: 40 percent said they agreed that he is, while 33 percent disagreed.
Ideological conservatives and Republicans were the only demographics in which a majority of respondents characterized the president as religious — 55 percent and 60 percent, respectively.

Honestly, I think that would depend on precisely exactly what spot in Chicago you were standing.Coydog wrote:Ja, exactly the same thing, except you're 40% more likely to die from covid-19 than get murdered in Chicago.

Whether he is a good Christian or not, or whatever his reasoning is, in this country you can be whatever religion you want to be so if he calls himself a Christian than he is a Christian.Coydog wrote:I'm sure POTUS is extremely pious, but as a former second rate reality TV personality, he knows all too well the value of perception.daytripper wrote:

regardless it's a stupid argument...ME2VTSkier wrote:Honestly, I think that would depend on precisely exactly what spot in Chicago you were standing.Coydog wrote:Ja, exactly the same thing, except you're 40% more likely to die from covid-19 than get murdered in Chicago. actually covid didn't exist then so the chance of dying from covid was zero...which is about only slightly more relevant than your argument on covid...
yer far more likely to get murdered for no reason whatsoever in chicago than you are to be killed by a cop (for whatever reason) in the entire country...
but those black lives don't matter cuz there's no political hay to be made from them...
same as the 20 ( at least some of whom were black) or so lives lost as a direct result of the rioting...they also do not matter, and for the same reason...there's no political hay to be made...
same tired D argument since the 60's, yet every D city is still infested with all the ills they claim to be " solving"...crime, drugs, poverty, corrupt politicians, abusive police high taxes, blight etc... the bluer it gets the worse it gets...
but the worst thing of all is that the liberal loons who can afford it will make a mass exodus from their utopian cities gone wrong only to immediately attempt to recreate their imaginary shangri la wherever they land...

Getting murdered by the police, who we pay to protect us, is the issue here - "deep state conspiracy against Gump" types should be able to understand to that.madhatter wrote:

wait I thought it was racist cops? so if we are talking about cops "murdering" citizens that happens very rarely....Coydog wrote:Getting murdered by the police, who we pay to protect us, is the issue here - "deep state conspiracy against Gump" types should be able to understand to that.madhatter wrote:

so to recap there is less chance of being killed by a cop for any reason anywhere in the US than being murdered in just chicago ( we wont even include baltimore, st louis and the rest of blue utopia)
even less chance of being "murdered" by a cop...even less still if you are black... ( 9 last year) still lower if you don't resist arrest and even lower still if you don't do anything to get arrested in the first place...
meanwhile cops are murdered at a far higher rate while doing their jobs...though not quite as high as murders for no reason at all in chicago...

Protest whatever or whoever you want, but a cop getting killed in the line of duty is a tragic occupational risk. Bad guys kill cops, we all know this. But when bad cops murder citizens, it's a complete breakdown of the social contract. Add in racism, especially institutional racism, and it only gets worse. When the social contract breaks down, all bets are off. Why obey the rules, when the government doesn't?
