We’ve been out here in Orleans on Cape Cod for the past 3+ weeks and some people here seem to have their panties in a bundle about tourists/out of staters as well. Must be something in the air in tourist havens this year.

We spent the summer on the Cape and felt very welcome. Did not see any of the negativity that seems to be coming out of K towards out of state plates. We did see lots of Vermont plates in Cape Cod. But there was a huge difference between June/July and late August as far as volumes of people on the Cape.

Don't know what hostility people are talking about at K. Been up a couple times also. No problems. We don't ever go out to restaurants very often, but did hit a couple places. No problem. Just got back yesterday from our labor day trip.

.. that's nothing new on the Cape. It'll change in a week or so once the place begins to clear out.

It's really nothing new for K either. Ever since they began investing in the bike park 5 or 6 years ago, summer numbers for out of staters have been increasing.

Always interesting to me when people choose to live in a known tourist area and then get upset about seeing tourists.

It was the New York plates in March and April from people who bailed out to their summer places that got the negativity. Nobody cares about green plates.

Waaaaay more folks in late August on the Cape. Crazy ness. Like crowds normally over the 4th of July. The 4th of July was a ghost town.

Sounds like several Mr/Mrs Locals Only in this thread. So I'll do the dirty work of bursting your bubble. If Killington is closed to out of staters, it will probably be closed to you too. The resort does not exist because of you and is totally dependent on out of state travel. Travel is not the problem now. Reckless behavior, like the party is. Your county by county restrictions have failed miserably if the goal was to actually keep people out from those areas, and guess what, your own residents are traveling to those areas too. Nativism, license plate xenophobia, and illusions of autarky will do nothing to decrease the spread of the virus.
