Re: Trump Presidency
Now that Trump has left the building, I just wanted to take a minute to congratulate you all on surviving his wretched administration. It ended the way it began, with lies, propaganda, and deliberate misinformation. I look forward to hating the next President only a normal amount.

^ Nice .. that unity thing looks good on you
.. anyone believing any of that crap is beyond recovery.
Have talked with nobody today that misses 45.
Friends voting for him are back-peddling their support.
Weird .. kinda feels like we just blacked out for 4 years.

Re: Trump Presidency
Given the more than 140 (!!) pardons and commutations handed out by Trump in has last day or two in office, I wonder if there's something to this? Just saw an article about a pardon for a wealthy real estate developer accused in the college admissions scandal. If the dude was willing to pay $250k for his daughter to get into college, how much do you think he would be willing to pay for a pardon?XtremeJibber2001 wrote: ↑Dec 1st, '20, 18:28 Surprised?
The Justice Department is investigating a potential crime related to funneling money to the White House or related political committee in exchange for a presidential pardon, according to court records unsealed Tuesday in federal court.

Just read that if he knows what specific crimes that "a person" will be charged with, then he could have made multiple secret pardons and pull them out when he needs it, long after he leaves office.

Re: Trump Presidency
Couldn't Biden rescind secret pardons? Not that I think he should, but seems there would be a burden on the recipient to evidence the secret pardon was delivered properly.Vinny Vincenzo wrote: ↑Jan 21st, '21, 11:13 Just read that if he knows what specific crimes that "a person" will be charged with, then he could have made multiple secret pardons and pull them out when he needs it, long after he leaves office.

Re: Trump Presidency
Secret pardons apparently might not work? Apparently it's never happened before. The whole concept of a secret pardon seems super shady.

As with most things of this nature, it will be up to the courts to decide. Since there's no case law that addresses it, any outcome would be difficult to predict. I have a feeling, though, that most judges would be pretty suspicious of secret pardons.

So... Trumpers
I'm looking at you Hatter, Moose, GIS, Angus etc.
What do you think about the Bannon pardon?
Do you think Bannon would have known the Capitol attack was going to happen (sure seems like he was involved with the plan)
And not told Trump?
Trump spoke on 1/6 with total ignorance?

McEnany to Fox news, surprise surprise. Wonder if she'll continue to be a hard-core Trump supporter now that she's freed from the administration and has a (likely very high-paying) job.
