monday 4/25 report

Post by skiadikt »

been waiting for a day like today. breezy & cloudy before the sun got out of jail. the "groom" on supe was interesting as patrol was smoothing the ridges & breaking up the chunks. with the warm temps, quickly got skied in. by end of day, bumped very nicely. at the bell, lark was groomed perfection. lower lark had nice bumps but a couple ribbons that needed negotiating. bumps on ovation are prime but you have to walk the entire runout. snowdon was mush when we got there excepting highline which had the best skied-in bumps on the hill. some walking or grass skiing required. took a late day "nature" walk over cascade where i was greeted by peel away corn bumps. beautiful - rotd. runout thin in a couple spots but still intact, though by tomorrow could be breaks.

It was quite windy on Superstar this am. Chunks, ridges and holes would be the first run descriptors. Otherwise, a nice crumbly firm descent.

Had to avoid a turkey on the slope even on a Monday.

Out at 1ish on the rock skis.

Triple with SND onto Highline. Nice, but the bump lines are a little funny.

Over at Sup. Everything skied well. Lower Sky is pretty toast, unless your on rock boards.

Ovation exit much walkier than Sunday. Bitter slow and sticky.

Noticed the Six pack was running, so headed over there for the remainder. Also noticed why the K1 will not run anymore.

it is amazing how much snow they plowed up there. the sad thing is there's another good week of snow on cascade. and yes moose, "windy" would be a better description.

Who went with you over to Cascade? Any of the usual crew? Miss being there to ski what is left.

got there at end of day as i got off work early (boss' words: "its too nice out today, you need to leave"), two runs on snowdon, then hiked reds - new setup, three tubes in one for the first hit kinda like an S (left is flat, center is sideways, right is down, right of that is a little lip to get speed), second hit is either two tubes flat or a flat box to a step down flat box, last hit is a long wide down tube that is hard to get speed for.
