Also Loon is having a problem of people going over the load spot and down into the pit just after. Almost did it myself this last winter. The load point needs something better to "grab" the skier with.

Re: Someday Bigger?
Jordan 8 should do better with loading folks. You won't need to ski/ride into the barn and then load on the 90 turn. Jordan 8 will feed in from the back of the barn straight ahead to chair load carpet that is on the uphill side of the load (normal loading position if you will). That should help immensely. Loon's issue is the RFID gates at the barn entrance to that huge mess inside the barn prior to the load gates in the back of the barn. Loon needs to come up with a more orderly setup within the barn to solve the full chair loading issues.
Re: Someday Bigger?
A lift with loading carpet for 8 people with beginners will be a mess! Been on a lift like that at Vail and that was a clusterF. I think that was a 6 pack. It's weird also with a snowboard. It grabs the snowboard and you have to pull in your back leg quickly onto the board before you do a split!
I was ok, but a mess when you have beginners! With 8 people, that will be interesting!

Re: Someday Bigger?
Where is that lift at Vail? The only loading carpet 6 at Vail I'm aware of is the Avanti Express mid mountain and up on the frontside. It was the only Vail 6 there or at Breck that did not slow and stop constantly and I attributed that to the loading carpet (only 6 at Vail/BC with one). Not to mention both Kanc8 and Jordan8 can raise the loading platform after the carpet 6 inches to make loading the little ones much easier.RENO wrote: ↑Aug 25th, '22, 09:45 A lift with loading carpet for 8 people with beginners will be a mess! Take a look at the second photo in this article. it looks like the loading is from the side of the building.machski wrote: ↑Aug 24th, '22, 10:19Jordan 8 should do better with loading folks. Re: Someday Bigger?
Nope, that is the racking connection to the barn. Straight in load, just like the old Jordan. Saw the vault for the carpet when it was just concrete structure. Plus, the lift is still spinning clockwise, so you would not side load the 90 on that side, it would be the opposite side to load on the 90 (same as the Snowdon 6).Big Bob wrote: ↑Aug 26th, '22, 03:29Take a look at the second photo in this article. it looks like the loading is from the side of the building.machski wrote: ↑Aug 24th, '22, 10:19Jordan 8 should do better with loading folks. I saw another video after I posted by Dopplemayer that shows the entrance clearer.machski wrote: ↑Aug 26th, '22, 15:46Nope, that is the racking connection to the barn. Good, that chair had plenty of life left.
Re: Someday Bigger?
I left BC out on purpose but yes, their Chondi does have a loading carpet for the chair load side. That seemed to run nd work fine too when we were there.simpletwist wrote: ↑Aug 25th, '22, 12:49Could be wrong but I thought chair 6 at the Beav has a loading carpet.machski wrote: ↑Aug 25th, '22, 11:26Where is that lift at Vail? Re: Someday Bigger?
All the evidence you need to support this conclusion can be had by watching people try to load on the Snowden 6 on a busy Saturday. I've seen people fall and nearly get run over by that chair so many times. Also seen many a wipe out when people try to unload. I can't imagine the enormous cluster a busy 8 person chair would be. I'd be much happier if they put up gondolas instead of these 8 person chairs.RENO wrote: ↑Aug 25th, '22, 09:45 A lift with loading carpet for 8 people with beginners will be a mess! Re: Someday Bigger?
I'm so sick of people looking for any reason to complain about any new lift. It's like you're still butt hurt that they took the Snowdon Quad out. Even if you sometimes see people struggling loading it, the bubble chair still has the highest throughput of any lift at Killington. The 8 pack at Sunday River will move far more people than the lift it replaced.

Moving far more people than the previous lift isnt always a positive.snoloco wrote: ↑Aug 29th, '22, 10:12 I'm so sick of people looking for any reason to complain about any new lift. Re: Someday Bigger?
Which is why Jordan 8 won't move far more, just a bit more.Whether the lift is being designed to add a few more chairs and increase capacity in the future should the Western Reserve ever come into being isn't known. The eight seats currently out there all have very large spacing online between the chairs.daytripper wrote: ↑Aug 29th, '22, 10:18Moving far more people than the previous lift isnt always a positive.snoloco wrote: ↑Aug 29th, '22, 10:12 I'm so sick of people looking for any reason to complain about any new lift. Re: Someday Bigger?
Oh, I'm so sorry I offended your delicate sensibilities regarding lift upgrades. I'm actually pretty happy they replaced the Snowdon Quad with a high speed lift. It's a very nice lift, comfortable and warm with the bubble. That doesn't make it any easier to get 6 random newbs to load on it. People seem to lose their minds when they enter that lift gate, and the sideways loading doesn't really help matters. I'm also not crazy about the increased number of skiers on Snowdon but I'll take the trade off for a faster, more comfortable ride up.snoloco wrote: ↑Aug 29th, '22, 10:12 I'm so sick of people looking for any reason to complain about any new lift.
