Re: Opening Day?
Demand doesn’t have to be up, capacity could be down, perhaps due to power station or distribution problems.
The whole electric power thing seems pretty shady. They sell you “electrons” which you can’t even see, and then they make you give ‘em back. If you don’t, you can’t have any more.

Regardless of who is right, if they can't get back on tonight, then it will likely cost them the weekend.

Re: Opening Day?
or could it be that there are usage restrictions in october or as simple with temps warming up a bit during the day and running a lot of low E's, that it just wasn't favorable enough conditions. the snowmaking doesn't look all that productive on rime for running 14+ hrs. also at this point, they're just competing against themselves so there isn't a real urgency to pull out all the stops. if they were serious about production in marginal conditions, they'd run the k-3000s.

Re: Opening Day?
Either bull sh*t or the cost of power is high. Doesn't Killington get a predetermined discount negotiated rate for power during certain months? Perhaps 11/01 is the start date.

Re: Opening Day?
Killington is saying the shutdown is simply due to rising temps, but we all know the truth: they had a blowout and after last years shitshow they’ll say and do anything to avoid repeating that PR fiasco. They haven’t even told Mike.

Re: Opening Day?
Ha well if they really wanted to cover it up they’d just loop the cams from earlier in the day.
One things for sure, it ain’t temps right now. Summit temps 20 at Mansfield, 23 at Stratton.

Re: Opening Day?
A little honesty would go a long way.
These snowmaking setbacks are becoming more and more common, and whether or not they are from external factors, they are incredibly frustrating. Sunday River isn't missing any snowmaking time.

So since it's after 8pm can they get back up and running?

Re: Opening Day?
Yep, they are back online.
I still think by end of the week is viable, now that the ground is covered it will go quicker. My Wednesday PM guess is out the window though!

Re: Opening Day?
There are no usage restrictions at $30 per MWh. Curtailment doesn’t start until $100 per MWh. Stop peddling sh*t on here.newpylong1 wrote: ↑Oct 31st, '23, 19:35Next time you attack someone, know what you're talking about.

Re: Opening Day?
It looks like Marketing and another employee (who gave advance notice yesterday of the shutdown) are peddling bullsh*t with me. This conspiracy has reached new heights.
