Opening , TTB and World Cup - 2024

We used to talk more about when we think they will open, and whine a lot less about when they didn't open.

I think they will open for passholders on Monday, November 25th. TTB on Sunday December 1st.

I think they will pull off the WC, with the shortest and latest window yet, and all will hail K's snowmaking prowess.

wow ... right now, i'm not predicting anything. all i know is that at some point winter will arrive. believe these things usually have a way of evening out so maybe we get a great winter, but will enjoy whatever it is. and then it will be summer again. that's all i got ...

Last year was really tough all winter, and then the spring was phenomenal. I would actually take that again over a great November and a lousy spring.

I’ll take whatever Mother Nature gives us, especially after the past two seasons of hardly skiing at all. Besides, at this point in my life I don’t care to rush the seasons.

Lighten up and enjoy what nature is delivering. I just walked my dog in the warm evening to a crescent moon. And now am drinking a Foam Pop Crimes. An awesome creamy candied citrus IPA.

Somehow, I can do two things at once. Enjoying the extra warm days, while doing all the seasonal chores around the house, well aware that winter will feel like it arrives overnight very soon.

I can also still anticipate the joy of an impending new season, while riding my bicycle on a 74 degree November day.

I just started this new thread, cause the other one had become a drag. No problem if nobody wants to play.

I don't know about killington but at a vail resort a bit south we have lots of projects to finish up and this extra warmth is allowing us to do it which will make the winter even better!!! Winter will come and it will be great. Maybe with this late arrival it will allow us not to have a thaw before Christmas!

What is the date that they decide that the world cup is a go or is cancelled?

According to Snowbrains, Colorado was set to host four Super-G races and four Giant Slalom races scheduled in Copper Mountain from November 16-21. Another four-slalom race was also scheduled in Aspen on November 18th. This was part of the Stifel Alpine Nor-Am Cup and the second Stifel Success Nor-Am Cup.

However, all these races now stand cancelled. This is because of the uncertainty of the weather surrounding these places. The temperature of the areas has been too high to get the right amount of snow in accordance with the FIS standards. While there are talks of hosting the races on later dates, the status remains canceled for now.

The postponement also raises concerns for the upcoming FIS Ski World Cup event in Beaver Creek, Colorado, scheduled on December 3rd. Many competitors for that race are set to arrive at the end of this week in Copper Mountain to train and get used to the conditions.

Thus, it would really throw the skiing federation into a conundrum if the weather doesn’t improve in these few weeks. Rescheduling such a huge event right now will be a very arduous task to take on. Moreover, most locations are not suited for the Downhill and Super-G races, like Colorado. Thus, it seems to be seen what will be done in the future if the conditions of snow do not improve. However, this unfortunate phenomenon seems to have taken over the skiing world

yes, enjoying the unseasonably warm weather.
a few more chances to bike my legs into shape for the snow, whenever it comes. the season is a marathon, especially for those of us who go to june. not at a loss of things to-do.
the cold will come.
at some point.

This is very confusing given the recent snow and ski area openings, including Eldora opening over a week early.

There is probably a difference between being able to open to the public for some people to ski down vs having a course ready for a Super-G.

I'd also guess that the western resorts do not have the same snowmaking capacity as Killington since they typically don't have to rely on it in the same way.

Guns on Friday. Better cold late next week with Greenland blocking forming. What I’d consider a partial pattern change, not fully loaded, but should allow some snow to be made. Still, probably can’t open until weekend of 16th.

Looks like 24 hrs from Friday to Saturday then a shutdown until next week, potentially Tuesday if it gets a little colder.
