For those wanting a display of the power of dry air, low dew point, and snowmaking above ambient temperature of 32, witness today’s snowmaking on lower part of hill. It’s all about the wet bulb….

Current dew point in Rutland is 5 degrees along with a red flag warning. Super dry air.

Driving in from the east following the Ottaquechee River I have never seen the water level so low.

Now that we have north ridge up and running….I’m curious to see if Upper Downdraft and Upper Double Dipper will be next on the expansion plan for that pod. I saw Canyon Quad running for a bit today….would love to see it up and running for Thanksgiving.

they'll probably go to at least one of those next. they have a snowboard event next saturday, they need to find a place for. but the biggest priority is getting ttb open ahead of tgiving. problem is they need cold air and after the shut down this weekend, looks like there's nothing until at least friday. if they're limited to the top of the mtn, then FIS and downdraft HW also get hit.

Looks like they've turned some gear on the cutover to Skye Lark and Nivis. They must see the hours to get those done in time. Seems crazy but best not to bet against them history has shown.

Still going on UEF.

I don't see the temps for the march through Snowdon anytime soon? Maybe they will nible away at the DDs at night.

Just a reminder that we would be skiing TTB on Snowden right now if it wasn’t for the World Cup. Just remember that when you’re taking the stairs. Even the practice trail is taking priority over TTB.

Is UEF open? If not, then it's not going to open for several weeks because once they start on Skye Lark, it means zero snowmaking anywhere else.

Yeah, and my yearly rant about this - Guessing they will be blowing the Downdraft headwall soon; they have a coupla air hogs staged there.

Anything that gets blown / opened up this early in the season WILL get several reign events [and subsequent freezes] making it a sheet of ice for most of the rest of the season. Think about it - Once this happens on the DD Headwall how many times to you ski it then for the rest of the season. Most of us always go down the Cascade HW with the much better natural snow conditions.

Save the expense - Don't blow the headwall !!

jimmywilson69 wrote: Nov 12th, '24, 12:50 yeah I saw the track hoe in the middle of the trail. the water feed goes up Bear Cub I'm told.

Could they be working on the feed over to where the pipe fan gun used to be?

And for god sake, can one of you locals or K employees PLEASE go remove the spiderweb and dead bugs from the camera :D

HA!
Over the summer, bees moved in and built a nest within the webcam housing. Once we can get a lift truck on-site to access the camera, we will remove the nest to clear the view. Thank you for your patience.

It's noted above the cam view on the website when you open the Bear Cam.
