Just skied Dream maker T2B. Headwall still pretty good but the backside of the second ridge (the part on Northway) is surprisingly scratchy. As you say, a few guns would do it.
Good coverage on lower great eastern. Still a few guns on, to my eyes they’re not needed. They made a LOT of snow down there. Rebuilt Skyeship Base Lodge fully open, bar and cafeteria look nice, will definitely have to stop longer at some point.
I’d love to see them hit Bear Cub. A bit disappointed they keep putting it off. Same as every year.
so just bear claw at bear? understand the cub thing but to me lower WF is a crying need to avoid this scenario from last year:
They don't have capacity to do more than that on that side if they do all of Bear Cub. Lot of hydrants. I would think L. Wildfire is high up on the list for that side (with Bear Cub and Sun Dog though).
Look forward to seeing the completed Skyeship Base Lodge. Last year when I went it was still a work in progress with food being grab and go out of the bar. I did think the new layout of the seating area made a ton more sense. It certainly seemed a lot less 1994 too.

They dropped the rope on Bear Cub for ski home. Some walking required. Guess I’ll have to stop snoloco-ing about it for a week or so.
And skiadkt, all they had last year was a threadbare viper pit, no anti-venom at all, so just stop with the hyperbolic comparisons with last year. Yes, would be better to have Wildfire, but c’mon they have Bearly, too.

My hunch is snowmaking on hold or winding down until after the warm up now. Those guys have been going pretty hard for a long time. Not really enough time to start on something else before not friendly weather. They'll probably take the warm up to setup the next few sets of trails then hit it hard next week. That's what we're doing.
With the majority of the "connective tissue" done, they are in a good spot to start hitting the good stuff soon.

yeah my take as well. actually surprised they shut down yesterday but heard it got warm on the mtn and probably didn't make sense to cobble something together just for the overnight. simply ran out of time. will regroup and hit hard after the new year. overall think the mtn did a great job. agree cub needs to be the 1st priority and after that, easy pickins on everything else.
major inversion. my house in mendon is 10 degrees colder the mtn. in fact, before skiing GE, my krewe was complaining about being overdressed. when we hit rt 4, everyone was talking about how much colder they were and not being overdressed.
Yeah, the cold hung around longer than expected so they may have missed a small 12 to 24 hour window. Not going to complain, they’ve done well.
The snowmakers got a few days off. I wonder if any of them can work a chain saw? Bunch of trees need trimming:

All along south ridge lift.
Entrance to solitude of whatever that trail is.
I know there’s way more, too tired to think of them. We should compile a list.

thought there was enough snow to push around there but a day late. despite yesterday's "entertainment" value, guessing they didn't do themselves any favors in terms of guest "experience".

i was there friday after south ridge went down midday and that was the only way out. i felt so bad for the majority of people on it, they had no business being there and probably no intention either. the sign might of said walking required but i managed to piece together a line. definitely expert level skiing on a green.
