Why does putting the bar down early bother you? What are doing when you sit down? I don’t get hit by the bar because I’m reaching for it. If you’re super tall or are doing something that makes it hit you Everytime, how have you not learned to just reach for it immediately?

Do you wait until you’re driving down the road to put your seatbelt on?
as a snowboarder, im a bit spooked if people put the bar down while were still in the terminal especially a low lift like ramshead. theres a tiny but not zero chance of accidentally catching the toe edge on the wood and the last thing id want is an edge catch and then getting caught up in the bar during it. i usually put the bar down once we leave the terminal, between that and the first tower.

Before I had a helmet I once got into a cabin at the Skye mid station and lifted my head too quick and smacked it on the edge of the door frame. OUCH!! When I took my hat off I was bleeding nicely.

As for the safety bar, I always ask first to make sure everyone is ready. Many people seem to sit down, lean forward and adjust something before settling down and sitting back. Common courtesy goes a long way.
have you ridden strattons gondola? its so nice compared to k1. almost the same except not sized for midgets.
Is it still that stand up gondola? I haven't been to Stratton in 20 years.

No - they replaced that uncomfortable thing [with the 6" "bench" that did nothing but cut off your blood circulation] a few years ago. I'ts a nice sit down cabin ride now. Butt, I think it's rated for 10 people and that would be really tight.

Someone on K Locals on FB must be reading this. There’s a thread there now on safety bar etiquette.

With the safety bars, I am 6' 5", so the first thing I do is reach up and grab the bar and hold it where it is. I will check left and right until everyone is done storing poles etc. then loudly ask if they are ready for the bar. 4 or 5 times I've caught the bar as someone else is trying to lower it right away. Holding it lets me cant my head sideways so as not to bonk myself in the head.

Per my earlier post, it is not luxurious - It is designed to hold 10 people. So, yes, luxurious if it's not filled to capacity [just like the K1]..

i dont think i ever rode it when it was packed full. i guess packed full would not be luxurious, but at least its designed for normal height humans.
