I think the point is that Powdr was putting the resort under a lot of pressure to cut costs. With the new owners, it's not an issue anymore.

I'm pretty sure the new owners repeatedly said that they were staying out of operations and will continue to let Mike et al run the resort. You people are high.
Day to day sure, but someone is still signing the checks.

maybe thats the difference all along. who knows how much micromanaging there was from powdr when it came to operations decisions... with independence they can do whatever they want now without having to answer for it for the next decade.

as for the changes, its a good snow year so that makes everything better. but things seem to be run smoother and management seems less stressed. all sorts of weird penny pinching moves going on last year that arent there this year.

i think the real changes are going to come in the next couple years, if theres any major changes to be had. i think this year new ownership is taking a wait and see approach.

Fixing the Skyeship door closing systems for one year before replacing the old boxes is tops on my list. Makes the final year before the upgrade so much more enjoyable.

Agreed. No more boxes on the line with "out of order" signs stuck in them. By last year it had become like one in three.

Perhaps the best example of how ridiculously cheap Powdr had become by the end.

My assumption has been that the hydraulic lines from the cam to the door open failed and they couldn’t get parts in a timely manner. I’d give the credit to mountain ops for finding a source, not POWDR or the new kids. But hey, kudos to anyone who had a part in getting them working this season. It’s a big deal when you’re waiting in line at stage two and “the sign” went rolling through on an empty car.

Smacked that egotistical Architect Saphdie upside the head, kicked him in the ass, and told him to go back to the drawing boards and come up with a village design that looks like it belongs in the Green Mountains of VT and not some stupid star wars set.

I guarantee that architect's ego is off the charts, I've encountered several pompous aholes like him in my 35 year commercial construction management career. Architects used to be master builders back in the day, most of them today wouldn't know how to build a birdhouse if they had to...but they can draw pretty pictures behind a computer.

Civil engineer - the most respected of all! Find myself more and more commenting, “how do they do that!”😇

Three engineers are debating what kind of engineer designed the human body…

The first says "It has to be an electric engineer! The nervous system resembles some fantastic electrical work!"

The second says "It was obviously a mechanical engineer. Just look at all the joints throughout the human body."

The third says "It was a civil engineer! Who else would put a waste pipeline through a recreational area?

What is the difference between mechanical engineers and civil engineers?

Mechanical engineers build weapons.

Civil engineers build targets.

I'm on the other side of the table reviewing this stuff, running a muni planning department. Our Building Inspectors and I couldn't agree more. Nothing worse than an architect with a big ego.
