Your First Pair of Skis
Fisher Silverglass with Cubco bindings, Leather boots with about 15 buckles!!!
1918 lives
Same here, Fisher Silverglass, the old blue ones. Solomon "step in" bindings with the pull up release. I think they were 303's or something like that. Reichle (sp) boots, solid plastic with lousy buckles and even worse linings. Was sooo glad to lose those.

Don't know the brand of skis...slightly used, circa early 70's. Leather boots with beartrap bindings...was told by the ski instructor not to come back with them! On the way home from my first time skiing I stopped and bought Look bindings (then-boyfriend/now-husband paid) and Koflach unisex boots. I remember the boots were $65.00 which was a huge amount of money to me at the time. Also bought ski pants before I went again. (One way to identify a first-time skier - wet jeans!)
I do know the brand of my husband's first pair of skis - VERY LONG Head Masters that he was extremely proud of.

Wood somethings with cable bindings and lace up boots.
I broke a tip off the 1st day on old Hellgate at Huntah.
Next came Hart galaxy 205's with Nordica leather buckle boots.

Northland skis, Baby! that I helped make.
My father worked weekends and some nights in the Laconia,N.H.
Plant. (they made skis for Sun sports in NYC.)
On weekends my job was to go down to Weirs hardware and buy a tube of screw in edeges(true temper).
then I would place the edeges on the skis and an adult would then screw them in...all at age ripe old age of four and a half...so much for child labor laws. and wimpy parents of today.
as for boots "Hampshire" ski boots were the bomb, untill the Lange Durapreem boots along with a pair of "Jet-Stix" came around.
I remember the Henke "Sliders" were my first pair of "Plastic" boots.
yo.
