Guns are going on Bittersweet and in front of KBL over toward Superstar as they start to expand. I wasn't out there today due to the Homeowners Weekend meeting but did take a walk around and into KBL - ghostly in its lack of crowds for an opening Saturday.shizzle wrote:That's where I got the info-anyone with eyes on the mtn? The webcam shows a lot of guns near KBL. Will try to patiently await the Saturday reports!
Did you also notice the grooming symbol shows AM. Does this mean there could be a PM groom also?skiingsnow wrote:http://www.killington.com/winter/mounta ... index.htmlshizzle wrote:Trail report says snowmaking on Upper Skyelark and Lower Bittersweet-can anyone confirm?

I dont think so... I think the symbols they are using are universal for what different mountains do, some do pm grooms I guess, so there is a symbol for that...Big Bob wrote:Did you also notice the grooming symbol shows AM. There's a little map they(ambassadors) are handing out now with the open trails and a trail/lift report on the reverse side. If a trail's been groomed, it says which shift it was groomed-1st or 2nd. Don't know what time those shifts are, tho. NECSkibum-can you help out with that?skiingsnow wrote:I dont think so... Maybe mid season we will see them do a mid-day groom somewhere, maybe...

That was us. After the meeting we took the dog up to KBL and took a walk around in the snow and the guns. The dog loves the snow.LINYbob wrote:I think I saw you Sat around noon. I haven't met you yet, but I think I recognized you and your lady friend (and black lab?)... I realized it later on.. it was one of those "where did I recognize that guy from..." were you at the party at the Grand too in the evening?
I was kind of surprised to see Chris Nyberg from Powdr carving the roast beef all night long.. and he had all the Killington employees serving food too. First thing I thought was "I guess they're not in a union..."

Employees do not have passes yet. At least none of the ones that I know that would usually be entitled to such a pass. I even saw one turned away yesterday at the K1. I believe the employees get their comp passes after the Thanksgiving weekend and can ride then.shizzle wrote:I personally didn't see too many ticket holders. Many of the passholders were employees-one of the big differences from past years in which employees were not allowed to ski early season. Also saw lots of employees wearing their nametags on non-K jackets. Looks like the staff is stoked for the opening! Didn't talk to any of them to see what was up about that-they were too busy enjoying the conditions.pcgrantham wrote:Any idea of the mix between ticket buyers and pass holders?
First couple of runs pass wasn't scanned, but the last couple were. The product was most definitely fine before 11 am, and not as foggy. After that, pretty much scraped off. The good news is the man-made boiler plate has set up a pretty sweet base-that stuff seemed impermeable! I would half-way agree with Mrs G-it was a good day to take a half-day off of work! It was heaven to be back on the snow! I thought the conditions were much better than last year's opening day-no puddles and snow burying the trails.
Tomorrow Lower East Fall will be open along with the canyon chair.
And for anyone who's interested, 24 days of work will qualify you for a free season pass. HR has a table set up in the MR.
He was even on the mountain today. I met with him for a brief while. He was amazed that he had not saw anyone else he knew and he had been there both Saturday and Sunday. He was on his telemark skis BTW.RustyK wrote:Steve wrote:sigh.SkiNutDave wrote:Steve, will you just go away already!!! No one wants to hear your bitching. you're the one with the "don't country club killington" sig, by the way. These miserable bastards drove me out of Killington - the mountain I love - show me a person who thinks I've going to leave quietly, and I'll show you a person who has another thing coming.
Whooaoo!
Dave's HERE man!
