Figuring out if we're hiking Stowe or K on Sat. I'm tracking the weather maps and message boards for conditions. We'll make the call Friday night.

I'm pretty much a lurker around here and spin master I thank you for giving us the low-down.

And I hope everyone appreciates him coming into the open.and is fair. Not saying to kiss ass or anything. I will be really pissed if angry posts filled with misplaced rage and unrealistic demands begin to make spinmaster not post anymore.

AS of 11:45 a.m. the temperature was 30.5 degrees at the Mixing Bowl pumphouse with a humidity level of 90 percent, which puts the Wet Bulb temp at 29 degrees - still too warm to make snow (Look at the Chart). We need a wet bulb of 27 degrees to fire up the K3000 guns and a 25 wet bulb to kick on the Low E guns. We have 80 guns ready to go and the system is charged. We're close, but not there yet.

Looks like the clouds are clearing out quickly now so the humidity must be dropping. Let's get going! I want to hear the hum of compressors this afternoon.

Me likey this potential right now:
http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Ki ... 3top.shtml

Looks like midwinter wind chills this weekend, be prepared!

Stowe has an 18" base up top right now, but not as much potential for snow in the next few days. Without guns or new snow, it could potentially be coral reef up there with the previous few freeze/thaw days.

We shall see....

Sunday River plans to start making snow tonight...
ga2ski (Moderator) wrote on the SR message board wrote:If the forecast holds. If the forecast holds. If the forecast holds. I can only tell you what I'm about to tell you, if you promise to understand that it is all contingent upon the forecast holding. So, IF the forecast holds, we plan to make snow starting Thursday night right through the weekend. How much we lay down during that period will be highly dependent upon temperature variations of only a few degrees. 28 is bad, 23 is good. We'll likely see a bit of both. The next question that you're asking is one that I'm not even going to try and answer at this point, but needless to say, SOON is the answer to "when will you open?".

Snowmaking Possibilities
The game plan is to attack Barker and South Ridge when the temps allow. Trails like Ecstacy, Cascades, Lazy River, Broadway, Easy Street and maybe even Jungle Road and Upper Punch are on the hit list for our snowmakers. Whatever ya'll can do to make temps drop even one more degree over the weekend is appreciated. Eat a salad for dinner instead of firing up the grill. It's worth a shot. We'll have steady updates on our website once the snowmaking kicks in. Time to tune in.
Spin, you really don't want them to open before you, do you?

I think Jiminy Peak could open first if they make snow tonight....now wouldn't that be embarassing?

No It wouldn't be embarrassing. Who gives a rats ass. The weather conditions have to work for a longer period of time to get top to bottom on the mountain.

no way jiminy gets open by the weekend
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.
