Joy of the Jeep, Ground Clearance is the Axle, about 11 inches. Bumper is the middle of most grills, and can be used as a plow in many cases. With limited slip real axle we usually never use 4X4, but it does come in handy for those odd driveways or pushing through the snow plow crap.

I am on my third Jeep and LOVE it. I am just disappointed that they phased out the model that I have (Sport). I'm going to run it until it gasps it's last breath.

Just bought a Ford Escape, 5 speed, 4 cyl. Got 26.7 mpg going to Sunday River the other day. Works awsume in the snow. Also have a Ford Expedition, 3rd one, with fulltime 4x4, must lock it into 4wd in the snow, fulltime system is to "slow" bring on power to the front axel. Also have 05 F350 4x4 diesel with Fisher e z vee plow, which I just climed out of after spending the last 8 hours in moving the 12"+ snow/sleet we got.
The sales man laughed when I bought the Escape, I call it my little sh*t box, but I fit in it, I am 6'-3", 235#, and works fine. Still have factory tires on it and have driven in snow and drives like ther is no snow on the road! Almost bought the Edge, but wanted better fuel economy.
2 hours and 10-minute drive to K

Been driving a Chevy Equinox AWD for two years and through nasty heavy VT snowstorms. No complaints, no issues, keep a consistent speed and it tracks unbelievably well.

Still have to drop it in 4wd low gear for steep stuff in heavy snow but its no biggie.

I really couldn't be happier

You know the equinox awd isn't full time awd, right? It's fwd then when you lose traction it throws power to the rear wheels too.

2007 Totyota Matrix FWD with all season tires ...just got it 1/4/07....next year for the snow tires maybe with studds. Like the car but the ground clearance is too low. I would love to jack up the car.....somehow. Drives okay in snow.. I agree snow tires work the best, especially all 4 tires

Kahuna - the Burban with the Hakkas in it couldn't make it up the Bashers unplowed driveway a few weeks ago. I was disappointed. Oh well.
