shredley wrote:You most certainly will need chains. Highway patrol will setup checkpoints and will turn you around if you do not have them. You will not be able to buy them at the airport, but can probably find them within a short distance from the airport. I have done this many times.

Chains will get you pretty much anywhere. Even on a RWD car.
i'm sure the rental car agency will offer chains.

I hope it wasn't due to the fact that you were waiting for an answer to your question

this is what the storys been lately.... a couple of times this past 2 weeks they only let me through because I had a vehichle with clearence #1, 4x4, Mud Terrains(snows), and at that i still had to have chains in the truck (no way was i about to bust my knuckles fooling w/ those, i'd have waited it out unless i was stuck - , thats the reason they made sure i had them with me, incase). I dont think they were letting small 4x4's through.... i'm glad i wasnt in the Durango, and even in my girls Grand Cherokee(her dads*) with a straight axle up front and a better 4x4 system....i dont think factory SIZE tires would have been cool.. CHP mobs big Ford Expeditions w/chains. I have superswamper trxus 33x10.50x15 this winter

Theres only like 10ft snow in spots.... i'd say go for it.[/img]
