All the mountains have extremely high lift tickets these days, even Nashoba Valley and The Blue Hills are way too much money for what they have to offer. Everybody who skis on a regular basis is going to have a pass at their favorite mountain

That would have made for a long hike.
There was a small ski area on Shrewsbury Peak in the 30’s directly south of Killington (and yes, you can still earn turns there). At the time, Killington was considered too remote to develop. A huge accomplishment by a very young Pres Smith was to convince the state to build that scenic byway we now call the Access Road.
