This is like finding the Holy Grail....
In these posts we have ->
one version with 5 juices and a splash of 151...
and - >
another version with 5 rums and a splash of juice...

.

.

.
So I'll head over to the Burrito next
time I am up and try to find Bernie
( wanna bet after 30 years of threatening
to retire I'll be told he finally did this
year? )

Didn't you bring a first timer to K who had 3 Goombays at the Grist and more at the Lookout?
Now you take back those rollings eyes.
Now if the girl you brought up to K with you is from Jersey too, then I can understand (I'm from Jersey too..... that's why I understand).

I thought there was some kind of apricot flavor in the mix, too?
Na.... A quarter shot of juice. The rest is every single kind of rum you can think of. At least that was my first Goombay.
Geoff, I must have met you. I was at the KVI every weekend when Bernie was working there. As far as the ingredients, I have a T shirt from KVI, never worn with the ingredients that is printed on the back as stated. The record for goombays consumed at that time was 14 by a women.

I actually have two possible three. I have promised one to my niece who is going to UNH and has discovered the goombay. They have been in my drawer for 20 years so if I find the other one I will let you know and you can have it. It is orange/peach color with Killington Village Inn on front and on the back is "Get a Smash at the Killington Village Inn" with a mason jar with Bernie’s Goombay Smash and the ingredients written inside the jar.

Bernie keeps saying that he's going to retire and move full time to his condo in Florida.
But I doubt it, he has a sweet deal working full time as a caretaker in Bridgewater.
It's really a job that most of us will kill to have.
Plus he only works at B. Burrito 1½ to 2½ nights a weekend.

14?
Not possible, unless they were very watered down and Bernie doesn't do that. I would think she would have died from acute alcohol poisoning after that.
I'll have to call him and see what he says.

GOOMBAY
One part each: Pineapple Rum, Coconut Rum, Light Rum, Dark Rum, Four parts pineapple juice, One part orange juice, Juice of one lime, Grenadine for color, A few dashes of bitters, Pour over ice and garnish with cherries and an orange slice. Enjoy! The Grist usually puts a 151 floater on top.

This is the best one yet. Yes, lime juice not "lemon mix" whatever the heck that is. If "lemon mix" was on that t-shirt, that was a mistake.
I would not give that t-shirt to skibumstress. She was falling down after completing not even one goombay. I don't care if it was a "special" goombay, that was pretty pathetic. No offense, bummy, but a historic t-shirt like that should go to someone more deserving, don't you agree?

I've had Goombays since then and those times were not "pretty pathetic."
I may not be historic like some of you but I first skiied at K in 1978....... but.....whatever.
