No, Skippy's right. You have it wrong. There are more than 18 Killington customers who read AlpineZone.

I stand corrected.

By my count there were 28 unique responders to that the "K#1" thread on AZ. So, yeah, you were off by ten. Of course, probably 20 percent of them never ski Killington, so that would bring the number down to about 22. And I don't want to hear about that "views" nonsense. I can refresh all day long, and ratchet up that number. I'm sure that's what Greg does during his free time. ("Seven more clicks and I can get $120000.08").

So you are agreeing with my rather tongue-in-cheek correction of JerseyGuy. More than 18 Killington customers read the "dishonest, nonsensical PR spin without any chance of rebuttal from the public". I may disagree with the tone but there wasn't anything else in his post that was factually incorrect. I initially wanted to tell JerseyGuy to stop with the vitriol but if you deleted "eighteen remaining" from what he wrote, you really can't argue against it. The spin has indeed been dishonest at times. It's been nonsensical even more often. Greg takes advertising dollars from Killington and won't allow rebuttal. AlpineZone is indeed biased towards their advertisers.... as they should be. It's kind of pathetic that Killington doesn't have anyone competent or credible enough to engage on the only internet message board for their resort. A little candor and honesty would go a long way.

While I find JG's parody's amusing, I'm not the butt of them, either. Tom's stuck between a rock and a hard place. If he really told the truth, he'd probably get canned. He's got family, give the guy a break. I don't think he's what's wrong with Killington, he's just the messenger. But yeah, a little candor, honesty (and given their failings, some humility at this point) would go a long way. I wouldn't hold your breath, it isn't part of their corporate culture.

on the other hand, diplomacy is telling someone to go to hell and making them feel glad their going. Case in point, someone walked into the pro shop and asked why we don't have a map of the course on our scorecards. The owner politely said, "we're making some course changes and we'll get a map on the card as soon as we make the changes". The guy nodded like he understood and went out to the course.

After the customer left I asked "really?" and the owner chuckled and said that when he started the course he bought something like 50,000 scorecards and he's got something like 10-20,000 lying around in the back so as soon as he has to order scorecards "he'll get right on those course changes". Then he said "all business is bulls*t, and all successful business men are bullsh*tters"

I'm not saying that Killington has to be honest and candid, they just have to make me feel better when they ignore and lie to me.
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.

Actually, it woul be better if they did the former. They do hear you and respond with the latter. If they just shut up from the beginning they would have been in a much better place with the public.
