Which brings me to how little coverage this has had. For such a major artery getting so much resources you'd think there would be weekly newspaper articles. A few TV news stories with footage, interviews with dump truck drivers on coffee break, interviews with DOT officals on timeline, etc. Weekly statements from the Governors office.
I haven't seen a thing, and a google search got me to K-Zone, Killington Real Estate Blog, construction companies and auto repair places. I know they don't want a lot of media clogging up the works on site, but I've seen more info in the last 2 weeks on Afghanistan that I have on Mendon, VT.
careful before someone finds a spotted salamander that needs to be saved.

Really? I'm not a flag waver but US troops are being killed in Afghanistan not so much in Mendon VT.
Sorry, perhaps I should have chosen some other news story in the daily feed. It wasn't meant to reflect loss of life (which obviously is important) but distance and National Guard involvement.
Today's headlines in the Rutland Herald are: E. coli found in town well, boil water order in place
Police trace stolen generators to West Rutland
Man charged in custody battle wants Vt. trial moved
Just try topping this ‘When I was your age’ tale
Returning from a lost decade
Courting Rutland: Judges and lawyers host forum
Blood drive faces new challenge
GMC to hold graduate fair
Woman sentenced for drug fraud
Pittsfield couple make it a townwide wedding
Wouldn't there be something on Rte 4 progress and news?

Considering that the Rutland Herald has been mostly All Irene, All The Time over the past couple of weeks -- online, anyway -- I'm willing to cut them a break on this one.

Took the Bus from K down to R today and I heard progress on RT4 Mendon was progressing well. Cold patch temporary blacktop is going down in some places and I saw the Wilk trucks rolling with blacktop. Mendon Rt4 may be open by or before Friday. This will not be a "normal" highway drive and you should expect flagmen, construction and delays. Drive slow--drive safe.
Heard cold patch went down on Rt4 by River Rd too.
Saw an 18 wheeler trying to get through On Rt4 past Journeys End and the cops had him doing a turnaround. You would think the guy knew RT4 Mendon was closed?
Paving 2 lanes tomorrow. Have been working on this job operating equipment. Have been working dawn to dusk. Still a lot of work to be done, but the road may be open Thurs., Fri the latest. Belden's, Casella's and Markowski's all teamed up to make this happen. It's been awesome to see everyone work together to make this happen sooner than it was project to be done. Enjoy your travels when it opens, Please drive slow in the work zones.

So that's what flatnhard means.....
What can you tell us regarding work remaining such as sewer, guard rails, permanent pavement, riprap, and when it will be scheduled? Does the mad dash continue?
