What a tragedy. Ruined his life, the mother's, and of course, the kid's.

You aren't going to believe me on this, but I knew a well known skier nicknamed "T" who worked for Ski Market when I did. He grew up at Killington I learned much later at a sporting goods show when he was working as a hiking boot rep. Once I skied with him and a group of ski industry people at OL. It was rather bumpy and cold that day. A friend of his wiped out about three quarters of the way down and lost his skis which landed too far for him to retrieve them. "T" came down picked his skis up, put them on his shoulder and then straight lined over the bumps to the Lodge. He put both pairs on the rack and went inside. The friend crawled his way back to warmth and safety. I stumbled down the slope on skis rather amazed and found him at the bar. This was mid day, but he wasn't interested in skiing any more. In fact, he was bored.

if somone can straight line bumps on outerlimits while carrying skis why are they not competing, they have some serious talent.

Back about 1985 a friend of mine accidentally straight lined most of Outer Limits. It was the first time we had ever seen it groomed and when he fell near the top he did not stop until he was pretty close to the bottom. Luckily nobody got hurt. That was when I decided that OL should never be groomed. The bumps make the trail safer.

Saw this last year, some girl about 12, straight lined it maybe 3 times in a row. Amazing she never crashed.

Staying on the subject, here is a funny one. College week , years ago, another college. Kid wearing a wine flask, got on the lift in front of me alone, somehow , leaned forward 2nd tower up on superstar chair, and as he fell off the chair he somehow, clung on cause his wine flask got caught on the chair. He dangled on the chair, legs kicking, one ski fell off, and then he went, poof, hard fall. Found out he broke his leg. He felt no pain. Completely slosshed. He was lucky.
