How did I not know of this before? Spartan is a cult of some sorts I guess. 14 mike course looks very rough. Sunday the elites did it twice.

My legs are sore just from walking down from the peak bar. Pickle was opened with a happy hour sized crowd.

Brew fest won't be nearly as crowded.
These events have become hugely popular. We actually did the race last year and I too was amazed to see the crowd of participants and spectators alike.

Last year a fellow from iPie told me that the Saturday night was busier than any day they had ever had including the busiest ski season weekends.
even though these huge events usually prevent us from riding there by way of exclusion, it's a huge win for the mountain and the DH passes DO include a free ticket to other gravity logic built areas... One similar drawing event per month in july aug sept would be a great revenue boost for the whole area...guess dirty girl was pretty big too, not sure if they had the biggest loser here this year or not...

Hit up the bike park at burke this past weekend ( along w a couple days of riding @ kingdom trails) they had a race running and it had r*ined some overnite but the stuff we rode was mostly mud free, though a little slick in spots and had some cool features, many much bigger than I was up for...Not sure its worth the trip in and of itself vs K but w the VMBA membership the bike park ticket was free as well... ( VMBA also provided a coupon for 50% off a second consecutive day ticket)

They did have this event. Someone posted pictures on Facebook because one of their friends was in it.

so between those events and the increased draw of the "new" summer K, things s/b looking up for them... Doesn't seem as though the other events were as big as the spartan race though so there's still room for "improvement"...

Those people are nuts. Do they realize how foolish they look? It's like a lesson on how to injure yourself just before the ski season starts.
