Here's a sequence (late-February near Mt Hood) I use for teaching about NARSID -- "Non-Avalanche Related Snow Immersion Death" -- in my avalanche safety classes.
(It's somewhat misleading though, as I was able to self-extricate since I fell in straight up, and I was on the ascent so I could skin out ... while my touring partner just laughed and took pictures.)

^^ yes, jonathan is demonstrating exactly what i was referring to. i indeed had some scary incidents that year stuck in treewells more upside down than not. solo.

THIS is punchy.

falldise from TGR, a week after MRG closed (with a 54" easter weekend!) when killington got 15" and the old summit lodge got wracked by damaging winds.

top of ovation, the shrubbery didn't help ;0]

I did that once! Took me a 1/2 hour to get out....

Not fun.

Butt the huck off nevis was fun - Butt not worth it.

The convenience factor for the NE Snowfield never ceases to amaze me -- can park closer to the snow than to any lift at any resort.
(More like a 100' rather than yards if you're familiar with the route.)
Well, okay, maybe not that convenient since there is no lift!
Plus you start at the top, so you're always tempted to take one more run before you fully think through how you then have to hike back up...
