It’s a bit “chalky” here at my house across from Pico. Doesn’t feel quite like the powder day Killington is advertising but really good for base building no doubt.

No, just saying what’s in my front yard.

Seeing the orthopedist about my historically better knee next week. Unfortunately, today was a non-starter for me.

Captain Hafski wrote: Feb 4th, '22, 08:57 From what I can tell from skiing late yesterday, plowing late last night, and what I am seeing at my house this morning [~1000' just East of K]:

- Yesterday afternoon at Snowdon, NR, and off the K1 just about as Skiadikt posted. From the bottom of Mouse Trap up was all snow. Below that jumped back and forth as forms of mixed precip though looked like snow coming down. For perspective, no snow actually stuck on our car over last 4 hours of the ski day in the K1 lot. But, was a good 3" of "pow" up top.

- Plowed my lot last night at about 11:00 pm. Though air temp was 26 DegF, was mostly sleet coming down. Had about 3-4" of this to plow with very wet stuff underneath, especially in the normal runoff locations. I suspect that for most of this storm the upper air temp [i.e., where the precip was coming out of the clouds was much warmer than the ground air temp. Can't believe it was that much different on the hill though could certainly have been better high up as we saw earlier in the day. Noted that my radar app was showing us [and K] south of the r*in / snow line perhaps due to this temp phenomena.

- Looks like we got another 5-6" or so of sleetlike precip overnight though current temp is 19 DegF. Heading out to plow it soon. But definitely not blower pow. So: I think the warm above air temp continued through a good bit of the night.

Just what we needed for a nice base ! Not sure how it's gonna ski today but gotta believe it's gonna be a bit stiff and tough to navigate as "pow" unless a very strong skier, especially where it's deep.

- Local forecast showing another few inched through the day which looks to be a bit drier than what has fallen so far. Might be looking good in the afternoon !!!!!

Can't wair for reports from the hill.
Appreciate the details Captain, i've seen it before as most that have been around awhile have. gets me all tingly. heavy, light, who cares. when the legs are in shape, all is do-able! hope you had a good day on the mountain and plowing went fine.

Thx. Plowing completed and got out for last coupla hours Friday. Gotta admit early bird got the worm. Mountain pretty trashed in one day [and a weekday at that].

In the end, the mountains elevation helped it out quite a bit. We all were right on the "line". So, we got some good base and the Friday crowds had skiable pow.

Always interesting to see the non advanced skiers / riders dealing with these conditions in the afternoon !

yup amazing how fast it got trashed and even the flattest sections were bumped. there were some serious fannies in the seats. early morning it looked like rush hr traffic on double dipper. during a mid-afternoon ride up the NRQ, there were so many skiers coming down rime (which was pretty much a bump run by then) that it looked like early november when it was the only trail . looking pretty crowded today. bear at 10:50 ...

You don't wann know.

Pretty steady r*in at 1000', on Rte 100 East of K, from 8:00 through most of the night. Was on / off r*in / drizzle before that.

Temp down to 25 at my house and a howling wind that started about 6:00 in the morning.

Heard half of the mountain is on delayed opening to re-groom. Other half with significant lift closures due to the wind.

Been snowing for a while at my house across from Pico but if walking the dog was any indication, sharpen your skates before heading out.

It's amazing how much snow has disappeared from my deck over the past 24-48 hours.

mtn took a big hit for sure but as we were winding down this afternoon, wind picked up, temps dropped dramatically and up high we could feel the surface crisping a bit. mama nature taketh and hopefully she giveth. with enough time, i'd expect mtn opps to do their usual stellar job grooming but expect firm & fast with the best conditions early.

I just saw a weather report on TV that said the Northeast might get a foot of snow from this next storm. Hopefully, that happens.

It's a lock. At least 18" coming for the weekend. Take it to the bank.
