Looks like the mountain took a major beating from this latest piss fest. From the looks of the webcams, all the snow they recently made at Pico and Snowshed was for naught. The north ridge is even starting to show thin spots.
Hopefully we are about to turn the corner on temps. Only 2 and half weeks until the Christmas week hoards arrive. Blowing snow on 2 trails at a time and a few spot guns elsewhere to cover up what is about to be boilerplate ice isn't going to open up enough terrain to spread out the holiday masses.
they've had over 200 guns firing on most recent good snowmaking days covering as many trails as possible. and K did vault into the lead in terms of "open trails" and added significant open terrain this week while most others did not. nonetheless yes another recovery is necessary and unless we get a lot of help from mother nature xmas week will be a challenge.
the one "problem" K has that others don't, is that there are so many connecting trails that need to be opened to make the whole thing work. so while snowmaking may be going on trails like blue heaven, bear trax, caper, lower GN, launch pad etc, it's not very sexy.
Yep, pipe issues excluded they've been dropping the hammer. It's unfortunate they are going to have to resurface yet again for the 500th time. Things better turn around quick to even think about those "eastern side" pods being open by the holiday.

5 or 6 guns in Reason and probably the same on UEF (they were still setting up there). Both need it bad. Latter was an ungroomed teeth rattling experience with many brown spots. Didn't go up top, so I can't confirm anything there, but seems reasonable they'd want to finish the connection to SS.
I've been unhappy with Killington's snowmaking this year, mainly due to the number of pipe blowouts at critical times. But at least they fixed the problems relatively fast.
Traditional Easy Street route on Ramshead being lit up this morning. Also Lower East Fall, maybe as far as the quad. And Snowshed. Still lots of spot guns. Lower tunnel from Caper to K1 now open, as is top link to SS via Blue Heaven.
