That's a testament about how successful a person can be pedaling bullsh!t so long as it pushes the right emotional buttons for people. Limbough, O'Reilly, Hannity, Ingram, they all follow the same playbook. Paint a picture of a monolithic, evil empire of liberals conspiring to overthrow traditional American values, then interpret every news story of the day through that distorted lens. People eat it up. It resonates with our human primal tribal nature, with liberals as bad guys (other tribe) and conservatives as good guys (our tribe). It turns politics into a sporting event, my team vs your team.

It does surprise me a little that Carlson is so successful because those other people are actually intelligent and calculated, whereas Carlson is clearly not. But hey, the flat earth society has a following so clearly there's no shortage of dumb people to sell things to.

I don't really get the logic of the anti-mask thing. Are you against seatbelts? Helmets? Seems to me it's the same principle - protective gear that can only help. The only explanation I see for being anti-mask is some kind of emotional response to being told what to do by someone you don't like.

Here's the thing about the Tucker rant

Republicans tend to fashion themselves to have libertarian leaning beliefs. Keep big government out of my life, let me be free to do what I want, etc etc

So Tucker is telling his supporters to get in the face of mask wearers and call the cops or child protective services on parents who put masks on their kids. That's the antithesis of that core Republican value.

If someone wants their kids in a mask, so be it. Let them be. You know it may not just be to protect against Covid. They could have other health issues as well.

You got my interest with this one, not only is your accusation a little over the top, but I just got the second shot yesterday. So I google "VAERS Covid" and right there is this page

The system reported 966 deaths of people who received either of these vaccines, the only two available at that time, which represents 5% of the total number of 19,769 adverse events reported. The report noted that 472 people died after receiving the Moderna vaccine, and 489 died after getting the Pfizer vaccine.

Newsweek launched its own investigation of the VAERS data but included all adverse reports of death up to February 26. They counted a total of 970 people who died after getting their shots — remarkably close to the results published in the Times.

So tell me why "this dude is dangerous"? I see a discrepancy between 3,362 "Between late December of 2020 and last month," and 970 "between December 14 2020 and February 19 2021". So without further digging, is it reasonable that in the ramp up of vaccine injections and the delay in gathering data, that between February 19th and "Last month" which would be April 30th another 2,392 adverse deaths occurred?

The quote is open to interpretation. Does it mean people are dying because of getting the vaccine, dying of Covid after getting the vaccine, or a combination of both?
