Superstar Quad is on hold until 10:30 a.m. for de-icing. A power outage has all other scheduled lifts on hold with no time estimate.

Multiple power lines come in, various capacities, directed in multiple directions based on the need for high current, or high voltage. Base lodges, lifts. I bet the power on the hill for the peak lodge and related things like lift shack lighting would be separate from high power lift motor circuits. Maybe not, it was decades ago when those lines were designed and installed and unless a major redesign was done in modern times then all bets are off.

But I must admit this is a good opportunity to give people a day off, since there are not enough employees to service lifts and lodges this time of year. Funny how they talk about 10:30 for Superstar but all other ops are dark. Separate power source?

I remember that Bear would have a lot of outages due to problems with the unique power line that came up the Bear road. Outages would kill Bear and Needles, get fixed, everything would run at some point later in the day. But without Bear scheduled to run as a comparison of power sources no one will know if it is a regional thing, K road thing, or management thing.

Personally I doubt if K management would try for a day off unless truly required by no power at all.

You mean POWDR called Mike and said "By the power vested over you, no lifts shall run today as it looks like an unprofitable day."

No pow to slay. Yesterday's snow was mashed down by the groomers, frozen solid into an unbreakable 1" crust and then wind-zambonied to a fine porcelain finish that only the sharpest skis could attempt to scratch.

Worst day of the season for me and I skied last Saturday and Sunday which were well below par.
