9% by the end of this Hmm,millennium only 2018 heading for 2019. So, we can now forecast climate change nearly 100 years in advance. Being about 400 feet above sea-level, guess I and my family will survive another century.

Yeah. Good catch on that one....pretty sane analysis of the less that sane report the press is overreacting to. Thanks!!

One of my favorite quotes:
"The tangible benefits from a warming planet are not conceded in the Report. Since the present warming – not caused by humans – began around 1850, living on Earth has become a much happier experience. We have longer growing seasons, fewer crop-destroying cold snaps, greater food production, fewer deaths from cold, less need for heating fuels, and less costly winter highway maintenance."

Meanwhile, with all the renewable energy being produced, the price of RECs has fallen and rates for at least one Vermont utility are rising.

Colonisation of the Americas at the end of the 15th Century killed so many people, it disturbed Earth's climate.

That's the conclusion of scientists from University College London, UK.

Interesting theory: massive population decline caused CO2 decrease. Coincidence is not causality, though. There were other factors in the cooling as well. Obviously 7-10 ppm change was a greater percentage of the total back then.

Causes of little ice age (Wikipedia):

“Several causes have been proposed: cyclical lows in solar radiation, heightened volcanic activity, changes in the ocean circulation, variations in Earth's orbit and axial tilt (orbital forcing), inherent variability in global climate, and decreases in the human population (for example from the Black Death and the colonization of the Americas).”

Article was interesting because it had actual numerical estimates, which gives it additional credence.

The rest of the story.........

Ed Hawkins, professor of climate science at Reading University, was not involved in the study. He commented: "Scientists understand that the so-called Little Ice Age was caused by several factors - a drop in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, a series of large volcanic eruptions, changes in land use and a temporary decline in solar activity.

"This new study demonstrates that the drop in CO₂ is itself partly due the settlement of the Americas and resulting collapse of the indigenous population, allowing regrowth of natural vegetation. It demonstrates that human activities affected the climate well before the industrial revolution began."
