(ok there are a whole bunch of numbers)
I think the last number is the final number and that it is a composite number of some others. Just thought that you, Dr.No and SkiFaster might know more about those other numbers and what they stand for.

Judging and scoring are exactly why those types of events should be eliminated from the Olympics. I love watching some of the events, but dam, who can figure it out, and all it takes is one a-hole judge to screw it up.
Time or Points and leave the events at that.
IceMan did a great job.
I have NO CLUE how to score a mogul comp. I just ski bumps as best I can.

I e-mailed the judges at the eastfree website and they replied with an explanation of the scoring calculation.2knees wrote:I think the last number is the final number and that it is a composite number of some others. 1.2 and 1.7 is the score for turns and line choice. 18 is the score for the first jump 16 the second air. S is the first jump, spread eagle. 3 is the second jump, 360. .86 is the degree of difficulty for the spread, 1.39 the degree of difficulty for the 360. 8.11 is the total judges score, the 3 judges combined. how they get to that i cant figure out exactly. usually turns and line are 50% of the score and air is 25%. 34.92 is the time she took to ski the course in seconds. 5.34 is the score for the time. 13.45 is her score for the first run. she dns'd the second run or did not start so her final score is 13.45. they took the highest score of the 2 runs to determine the final score.
so
given this:
10 96 BARCLAY,Katie 1.2 1.7 18/16 S/3 0.860/1.390 8.11 34.92 5.34 13.45
The algorithm is as follows:
(1.2 + 1.7) + ((1.2 + 1.7)/2) + (1.8*.86) + (1.6*1.39) + 5.34 = 13.45 (rounded to hundredths)
The missing link was the fact that they add the average of the turns and line into it (the 2nd part of the equation above)
