Don't know for sure but maybe Twiggy (Dr.No's friend) may qualify.
Nah, Twiggy is a pup compared to that, 75 next June I think. Met a Father Son team years ago at Stratton. Son was 65, Dad was in his 90's. Out for a few runs and then back to the house. Pretty amazing to see anyone out there at that age, let alone still ripping some good turns.

I think he's right at 80 now but he hung them up about 2 years ago when he moved off the mountain. I think Red is still slidding though and he is about the same age as Leo.

The oldest known skier on record is probably Herman "Jackrabbit" Smith-Johannsen (b. 1875 d. 1987, age 111).

o He broke his leg at age 96; was again skiing within 6-7 weeks of his initial injury
o He retired in 1929 picked up his family, left Norway and came to Canada, where he settled in the Laurentian Mountains.

He stopped skiing around age 106 as his vision began to go. By 110, despite being completely blind and mostly deaf, he was quite sharp. He was almost exclusively a cross-country skier, and may have dabbled in alpine skiing.

I don't know of any 90+ year old alpine skiers. I've heard of a very few skiing into their early-mid 80s. Anyone 85 still alpine skiing says quite abit about their strength, guts, and verve. I once saw a man, 71, smoothly tackling moguls at Mad River. From a distance, I thought he was maybe 40 at most. I was overwhelmed by his assertiveness on the snow for a man his age. However, he was agile, strong, resilient and just plain beautiful to watch.

As I once heard, "there aren't enough Os (plural letter 'O') in smooth!"

That's great that he is able to ski so well at that age. Hope he keeps it up for a lot longer.

Condolences to his family and all who knew him.

Doria and I are heading out to Banff during February vacation with our ski club. The trip leader, "Bud", is 83. He would put even Ty to shame. He's out there from when the lifts open until they close. Every day. After last years trip to Park City, Doria got him a shirt that he wears proudly, "You don't stop skiing because you get old, you get old because you stop skiing".
