This first run off the Glacier chair at Val Thorens surprised all of us on day 2, we didn't expect powder up here. Many runs were done here off piste, we liked it! Can't wait for the video montage.......

Storm day today. Weather forecast said 4 inches. Started out on the glacier in a complete whiteout getting blasted by ice pellets. Moved along to find something a little more sheltered. Still horrible visibility but the snow was awesome. Boot deep and building. Poked around and found some wind loaded areas that were amazing. Knee deep or better. The snow was so good we didn't care that we couldn't see. Too many laps to count - and you could count on one hand the number of folks off piste besides us. We noticed the tram running and bee lined. And then it happened. Clouds rolled out and the sky went bluebird. We scoped our line and hauled ass to our entrance. I proceeded to have the run of my life. Waist deep, steep as hell, face shots with every turn, slough chasing you down the hill, absolutely amazing. I just wish it wasn't day 6, my body is hurtin. Decided to end on that high note and left SBF and Mtnman and called it a day. Mtnman should have a couple pix to post. Too good out there to whip out my camera today. Nap time...

I concur with Stormchaser's report, probably the best ski day of my life. What a capper to the vacation! Cody and I continued to lap the Tram the rest of the day, getting faceshot after faceshot. Our last run was of a different kind of greatness. We went off piste and found more good snow. But we saw less and less people around. I came to the conclusion that we were in the valley, no lifts in sight! I saw small groups of 8 around and determined, this is where the guides take people. Using backcountry protocol, Cody and I just contoured through the valley, enjoying little shot after shot, covering almost 5000' of vertical. We got back to the lift with about 15 minutes to spare. Can I just say that it is an amazing feeling, being in the Alps with not a building, lift, or person around except your buddy. What.....a......day!

And yes, we had full avi gear
