It’s remotely possible I was trolling a few individuals whose knee jerk reaction is to stoically defend their lord and savior, the Snowdon Guad.SkiDork wrote:At least this morning the problem had nothing to do with lifts.skiadikt wrote:sorry rogman but the slowdon quad would have run at 8am ...rogman wrote:And one of the few lifts now running is the bubble. Late shift got the worm today. Damp fine ground sugar, light r*in and uncrowded decent skiing under the no lift line bubble. (Which stopped every trip up, one time it stopped twice)
I'll point out that 6 people every 10.8 seconds is the same as 4 people every 8.3 seconds, and the Snowdon quad ran faster than that. I do like the Bubble in rough weather though, that part is pretty sweet.

It doesn't matter how many in so many seconds, they are still ALL going to stand around in the way, in the middle of the off-load area!Mister Moose wrote:<sticks fingers in ears>rogman wrote: It’s remotely possible I was trolling a few individuals whose knee jerk reaction is to stoically defend their lord and savior, the Snowdon Guad.

Re: Lifts Delayed Friday Dec 28
Read the 4:13 report, the snow reporter apologized for the poor reporting. Why is this an ongoing problem? Is there little or no or just plain poor communication between mnt ops and this individual?? It was pretty obvious to the regulars that with snow to freezing r*in there will be lift delays. If you live at the mountain, just look out the window, no need to check the radar, the window view is never wrong!!
And if you want to look at the radar, try this link, it cuts out all the false echoes.

Conditions report has been going downhill the last few years, hopefully it has bottomed out....this year has been horrible.

Now Mr. Moose you can’t have it both ways:
“Harrumph. The new lift will put too many people on Snowdon.”
“Harrumph. [fiddles with sliderule] The new lift doesn’t upload any more people than the old lift.”

One is my preference, the other is stating the mountain's viewpoint. Harumph, the new 6 pack will put too many people on the mountain if it runs as advertised, and if it doesn't why spend $8 Mil? (Throwing out a number) Although I did enjoy my $1,000 ride today.rogman wrote:Now Mr. Moose you can’t have it both ways:

And we used whiz wheels, our slide rules went in a circle.
They've got to be thinking that 10.8 seconds load time is training the clientele, and plan to speed it up at some point. Otherwise they have a 2,000 skiers per hour 6 pack that takes about 8 minutes.

Re: Lifts Delayed Friday Dec 28
They have varied the speed a lot since opening. Christmas week has a lot of intermediate skiers that can't figure out a corral, the RFID gates, or load a lift. You just have to be patient with them, and hope they are at least paying full freight. My observation is Killington is running the bubble much slower this week. Sucker can really fly when it goes balls out.Mister Moose wrote:One is my preference, the other is stating the mountain's viewpoint. The most clueless load I've seen this week was on the Canyon Quad directly ahead of me. Guy goes out by himself, shortly followed by his 3 buddies. First guy panics, thinking it's a triple, and dives safely to the left. The chair comes along and the lifty loads his 3 buddies cleanly. The first guy gives a self satisfied smile, thinking he's saved the day, when suddenly a chair coming down the mountain scoops him up, and he flails around the bull wheel. He would have made it too, except there's a 4" wooden lip there for the loading platform. Both his skis hit it and he double ejects, face planting right in front of me. Lifty stops the lift, super apologetic, but the guy just picks himself, puts his skis back on and reloads the chair, yelling up to his buddies, "I thought it was a triple".

Lifties must have some great "Jerry of the Day" stories!rogman wrote:The most clueless load I've seen this week was on the Canyon Quad directly ahead of me.
