Re: North Ridge Quad
I am dreaming of the day we get Dream Maker back, but I am not holding my breath. The parks are very hodge podge over there.
They would work on RH but not without more acreage and more uphill capacity.

Re: North Ridge Quad
I seriously doubt it. That lift has not aged well, would require quite a bit of refurbishment $$. I would not think they would put an old looking lift into the interconnect.Highway Star wrote:They are going to use the removed Rams Head lift for the Interconnect. Bank on it.
Re: North Ridge Quad
Ramshead is from 1996, so it will be around 25 years old when replaced. That's not that old for a detachable with tire driven terminals. Those can go on for 35 years or more. Stratton still has their 1988 gondola with chain drive terminals and those are a lot less reliable. I highly doubt Ramshead is scrapped, though it could be sold instead of being relocated at Killington.

Re: North Ridge Quad
ramshead doesn't have anywhere near the pitch that dreammaker or the stash has for more advanced level parks. also a big reason they put the skye burst tunnel was to connect the 2 bear parks.newpylong1 wrote:I am dreaming of the day we get Dream Maker back, but I am not holding my breath. I think Killington/Powdr needs to talk with Doppelmayr before the next lift install...

Re: North Ridge Quad
Killington has been an all Poma mountain since 1994. That means all their operations and maintenance staff is only trained on Poma equipment, and all their spare parts come from one supplier. That is a huge advantage and it saves them a lot of money. Getting even one lift from Doppelmayr or Skytrac would require all the staff to completely re-learn how to do their jobs and would greatly increase the amount of spare parts that need to be stocked. It's like Boeing vs Airbus. Airlines tend to operate one or the other if they can for simplicity. Most ski areas tend to have only Doppelmayr or only Poma (not counting manufacturers that are out of business).
Clearly Powdr remains confident in Leitner-Poma given that they have two projects this year, even after all the issues last year.
Also, Leitner-Poma now offers this updated bubble chair design that I'm sure we'll see on the next verison of Ramshead or even Superstar

Won't work on the Rammer.

Re: North Ridge Quad
How is one chair design more idiot proof than another? They all do the same thing. Larger seat width is better since it there is more margin for error in terms of where people sit down, though width appears to be unchanged with this new design.

Re: North Ridge Quad
So what you are saying is the parts from a 1986 lift and technology are the same as what is used in a 2018 lift, yae ,right. You need to get out of school and get some real world experience!snoloco wrote:Killington has been an all Poma mountain since 1994. I wish I could recall who it was that called me out when I state in the fall that there was big changes coming for Rams and the Woodward was a major part in it, I guess all I can say is, I told you so.....
Re: North Ridge Quad
I fear a chair like that will make skiers soft.
Skiing is a sport. Sure you can ski one weekend a month and spend half the time in the lodge.
Leave the lodge in the lodge; respect the sport, respect the mountain.
Also, too many moving carts. The snowboarders will tear the seat covers and those inevitable pinhole burns.
