Where do you pull these estimates from?

You claim there could be over a million deaths yet since coronavirus started in January there have been 4000 deaths.

I think the issue is CDC is saying COVID-19 might have a higher mortality rate than the flu, but right now they just don't have good numbers on the number of COVID-19 cases that go undetected like they have with the flu. Taking into account the flu cases that don't require hospitalization the mortality rate is ~0.1%. It's going to be difficult for the CDC to measure a true mortality rate because people many will have mild COVID-19 cases that were never diagnosed hence, the mortality rate is going to be calculated via confirmed cases so it will appear artificially higher (just like my flu mortality calculation above).

The overall cumulative hospitalization rate was 57.9 per 100,000 population which is similar to what has been seen during recent previous influenza seasons at this time of year.

So yeah maybe some people completely avoid the flu but most people are exposed and certainly don't go to the hospital. That's less than 1 in 1000 over a 5 month period.

Corona Chan has a near 100% infection rate, is more contagious, and sends about 15-20% of the hospital with pneumonia, about 2% of those people don't recover.
