It is, however within the discussion of the pass holders promise Killington is treating it as (and even referring to it as) a subscription.spanky wrote:I believe the 365 is an annual pass broken up into 12 monthly installments.

Re: Anyone else bailing on 365?
365 did not get a refund like the other passes when the mountain closed early. We just got the charges suspended for April and May since the mountain was closed. The press release by Killington says that in the future if the mountain is closed the pass charges will be suspended. I would argue that I f you are out of state the mountain is still effectively closed to you.
I can imagine a scenario where the mountain operates over the summer and early fall with the 14 day out of state quarantine but then can’t open for skiing because we go back on stay Home orders. In that case my understanding is we would have paid $1350 for the 5 months of access we could not use and then the monthly installments would be suspended for as long as the mountain was closed.
Based on all of this I would certainly argue that the 365 pass is a monthly subscription.

As others have posted, 365 pass is a yearly pass [for a 1 year period] that is able to be paid monthly.
To date, K has been reasonable w.r.t. not charging us for last 2 months.
FWIW: The "rules" are to "self quarantine" 14 days. Does not say "Have to quarantine in VT for 14 days once you cross the state line".
With that said, IMHO, as a VT resident, I am more than OK with anyone that has "behaved" for last 14 days [a very conservative #] to come up here.
Not sure if this helps with your decision, but my opinion.
Also, as I have posted before, all of this [w.r.t. my spin on it, or whatever the unpublished "rules" are] is unenforceable and being blown off by many, including many of our friends. Kudos to you guys for being so [not sure of right word here] considerate, caring, etc. about this situation.
Getting close to moving up here for good?

From Addendum 7:
"1. To preserve the public health and safety, to ensure the healthcare delivery system is
capable of serving all, and to help protect those at the highest risk and vulnerability, any
person, resident or non-resident, travelling into Vermont for anything other than an
essential purpose, must immediately self-quarantine for 14 days or the balance of 14 days
dating from the day of arrival."
To me that reads as having to quarantine in VT for 14 days once you cross the state line no?

Re: Anyone else bailing on 365?
Ok. So I heard from Killington.
1st- There is a 14-day quarantine. You can’t use the pass because you are from out of state then tough sh*t. Pay for it anyway or cancel it.
2nd- if the quarantine lasts until November and the ski season gets cancelled and you have not used the pass then you can cancel the pass and get a refund of everything you have paid so far...$1350 in our case. But of course then you have no pass.
Lots of questions still:
So if you cancel the pass and the mountain opens in January it will be a tough call. At that point you could get a refund of $1580 but then what pass do you use for January -May? Can you get them to sell you a full pass at the early buy rate and have them apply the credit so you would only owe $420 (irony) more. Or would you be stuck paying for tickets until the spring pass goes on sale.
And what if you use the pass to golf in September and then the season gets cancelled? Did that one golf game cost you $1350?
I appreciate my good friend Captain H’s sentiment that it’s OK for us to visit so long as we are safe. Maybe we should just stop worrying about the rules and what people think. It got pretty nasty over the past 2 months with people’s fear driving their emotions.

Re: Anyone else bailing on 365?
Thanks for the info Skivt2.
With that info, unless the quarantine is lifted at some point in the near time frame, we will be bailing on the 365 pass for sure and focus on the free mountain biking in state parks etc.
Tough situation that Killington has been put into. I'd guess sales are way down but who knows?
I too appreciate the sentiment from Captian H that it is OK to come up if we are safe, but not everyone will share that sentiment and as referenced, things can get pretty nasty when stress and anxiety is up.
For the winter, we may just opt for Pico only passes. We ski Pico quite a bit anyway as a family and could accept missing out on Killington days for the much lower cost risk option if things do start to fall apart again next winter.

Condos in short term rental programs were told some time ago that reservations would be taken for dates beginning June 15. I assume that was based on guidance from the state that it planned to lift the quarantine at that time.

Vermonts economy lives and dies with tourism, they can't afford to keep the quarantine happening over the summer let alone next winter.

Re: Anyone else bailing on 365?
This statement has been made a few times and it got me curious how much of an impact tourism is in VT....daytripper wrote:Vermonts economy lives and dies with tourism, they can't afford to keep the quarantine happening over the summer let alone next winter.
In 2017 Tourism accounted for $2.2 Billion. VT GDP is $32.2B, so tourism is 6.8% of the VT economy. It's not that big.
Sources of visits are
MA 21%
NY 17%
CT 9%
NJ 7%
NH 7%
20% of Vermont housing is second homes.
Tourism accounts for 10% of Vermont jobs.
