there aren't any shadows if the trail is lit from both sides / multiple angles. vision is usually poor when the trail is artificially lit. but vision is just one of the senses. learn to ski with the others.

Night skiing is a niche market. The new K has shown little inclination to go after that sort of thing. You might make it work with a small jib park, since there'd be less infrastructure to install. ASC did something like that at Snowshed after closing last year for kids, allowed the parents to hit the pub. I don't know how successful it was. I've found night skiing to be tough. Flat light, hard to read the slope.

What might work is full moon skiing. Turn it into a unique event. Ramshead would most likely be the best bet: benign slope with an eastern exposure.

Night skiing is fun, but my toes get cold. You can't ski hard enough to work up any body heat to keep warm.

The main motivation is to make Killington a more fun place to ski on the weekends when it is as busy as any major metropolitan area. Everyone knows the population of Killington more than doubles on the weekends so thinking of it as a small rural area is grossly inaccurate.

Well, their justification removes several high price rental properties from the slopeside ski in ski out listings because 2 days of the week people cannot ski to their properties along the skyship. It also means people with slopeside homes at PICO are screwed out of 2 days of slopeside services reducing their property values and their rental values. I am sure Killington would have some interest in their rentals.

I am not sure about that since Pico will be open all week during Christmas week and school vacation week which in my opinion are the only two weeks when you find high demand for slope side condo units at Pico on a Tuesday and Wednesday. If you ever go by there mid week in the evening (after the day time skiers have all left) I think you will find that the place is pretty quite.

Lower Skyship is still ski in ski out. There's just no lift when you get to the bottom, you gotta wait for the BUS to Bear-K1/Showshed.

Night skiing at Pico would be awesome. If they put it in they should also build a Wobbly Barn type bar/nightclub in the parkinglot of Pico. That way you could co straight from night skiing to night apres skiing!

Actually there is a space in one of the buildings at the base of Pico that was formerly a restaurant that could be used for a night club etc.

Hell just move all the tables and chairs from the Pico Pub to the cafeteria downstairs, and party all night upstairs.

What I don't understand is why Pico, and why on weekends ? It seems like you could do this at Rams Head or snowden on weekends if your aim was to make the most money (i.e. K has more renters nearby on weekends)

I like the night skiing vibe, but I think its mostly for locals (kids in high school) and mid-week , night skiing is sort of a lodge/hang-out thing that might work well w/ easy access off rt 4 and near rutland

also, lights at Pico might be cool, but they won't even build a small terrain park at Pico, I can't understand why ?, our kids grew up riding at Pico and we love Pico but we now go to K for the parks ...snowboarders (<20 years of age?) have no interest in riding groomed featureless trails, don't they get this ? ...so...good luck w/ the lights !
