At the risk of being called a newbie again, may I ask a question?

How long could the season have gone last year if they stretched it as long as the snow could possibly last? I do not live near the mountain and have always assumed that they only closed once all the snow was gone. How much skiing could have been had after K closed last year? Please do not yell at me again.

last year probably another week which would have been the announced/advertised close. old school killington could/would have stretched it another week beyond that.

wow...I guess a mind IS a terrible thing to waste...lest you forget....there was snow ...appreciable snow at that...a week after the closing bell....the furver was unreal...and they STILL wouldnt reopen...not even the age old rite o' spring Superscar....and it was WALL TO WALL AND NOSE TO TOES COVER....for another three friggin weeks. Lord only knows how many Chrissie voodoo dolls got the sh*t pinned outta them...deservedly so...

Your question is a reasonable one, it is just it has been beaten to death here and it is always the same arguments over and over.

You can try to do a search on the topic, but I have to confess, I don't know what search terms to use. "may closing"? "superstar financial cost benefit"? I dunno.

you have to have been at K for the glory years to understand the magnificence of the April/May and sometimes June ski scene. And they do sell a fair number of day tix, from folks who come from other closed mountains.

tsk tsk tsk....my dear Mr L....you DARE omit mentioning the NOT too distant J U N E 1st Fun Slalom?.....hell...I recall a number of years back skiing June 1e3th...and them closing the end of the day the 14th....eighty glorious , sunburny degrees.....

Saturday June 1st, 1986 the Out of Control Ski Club brought a BUS LOAD of single day ticket buyers (no group discount) up from Albany, NY to ski. In the evening a small group of us went water skiing on Saratoga Lake. One of the most memorable days of my life.

Could this be the way K is rolling and they just aren't making it known? It's not like they have been known to be communication experts, especialy since Tom left or was fired or whatever.

Except we have seen that when Killington says a closing date, it means

"Unless we close earlier with edge to edge coverage due to a lack of passion for the sport and a shortsighted bean-counter outlook"

When Sugarbush sets a closing date it means

"We will ski at least until then and even later until the snow turns brown and there is nothing left except the beer."

I don't get it. No way Killington should shut down before the snow is gone. This is outrageous! Why doesn't anybody here do something about this? (btw...which emoticon do I use to show extreme sarcasm?)

Get on the boat my friend. Its been an ongoing concern of the masses since POWDr came to town. Killington used to be the King of Spring. Now they're Killing tons of fun for spring skiers throughout the northeast... Speak and be heard.
