So one of my favorite Skiology Matt interactions was last January. A 2 phase storm with predicted 50+mph summit winds out of the South (mainly phase 2) was moving in.
From first chair on, Mount Snow had their backside of the mountain Sunbrook quad listed as on wind hold.... (more like lack of staff after the phase 1 foot or so of snow MLK Weekend Friday night storm) access from literally the no wind at the Summit and ZERO signs of drifting from any wind angle in the Sunbrook area that morning...
Online, Matt, who wasn't there that day, or apparently any days at Mount Snow last year, was adamant that his prediction of wind holds at Mount Snow that day was accurate and backed up by his "sources"...
The fact that me and my wife were actually there, and not experiencing anything more than a slight breeze firsthand, which I told him, meant absolutely nothing to his insistence on his wind hold prediction.....
I will give him credit that he often, even though he doesn't have much more than a semester of formal meteorology education, he very often does a good job at breaking down storms on a very specific geographical basis, however having a relative who is on the high functioning aspergers spectrum, I see a ton of similarities, which are so often based on the social inability to acknowledge that they might (and are) actually wrong about some things, since their often incredible ability to analyze data, lacks the ability to comprehend that at times the data just simply can't account for all the variables that real life brings....
I appreciate what you're doing here. You're painting this in the best light (you seem to always find a way to do that). But unfortunately that's not the reality here. He's not some Hollywood movie weather savant with an intolerance for failed data. He's a narcissistic egomaniac with major insecurities that people will realize that he doesn't know what he's taking about (which he doesn't). This would all be funny at best and sad at worst, if he wasn't actually harming real people in the process. His attacks on people who are just trying to get by in the industry are not OK.

He's a hack
I can read weather models and make predictions as good as he. But I don't in public. I'm not a professional meteorologist and there is more to it than reading models.
Plus it's not an exact science. There is a reason the weather is often not exactly as predicted...
Social Media is making people dumber I'm convinced of this

Correct. And what about his followers? They must be blasted for enabling him and providing positive reinforcement. These lemmings cheer him on and post positive reviews and donate money to him. That's f*'d up and f-ing bizarre when it is obvious that there is so much wrong there. And Matt should be responsible for addressing his issues with a therapist or some other professional instead of running to his facebook site and those dum-fuk followers of his.

"Early and late season skiing is more so marketing, and they've built a brand around this, but it's not as directly related to snowmaking might."
I had never heard of this guy before (and if he really said anything over a foot of powder is a waste I don't need to), but this quote cracked me up. If he wants to see snowmaking might, go check out Superstar while K pounds it with snowmaking. The Seven Wonders of the World pall in comparison, never mind SR nor Okemo snowmaking- not that I'd care about marketing nor "rankings"...but I do care about Superstar skiing into June.

Eh - without reading every post on this thread in detail it seems like people are letting their politics shape their opinion of this.
I've seen the threads on social media - nothing great but sometimes some interesting discussion on weather etc. Seems like a lot of complaining over some dude trying to start a blog.

Yup, been reading ski forums for decades. So I've seen a lot of great thoughtfulness from posters like drjeff. Never really got riled up enough to post about something until Bramble started F'ing with innocent people's livelyhoods.

The problem with Skiology is that the moderator often posts inaccurate information as facts and will never admit when he is wrong. When he posts things like "BREAKING NEWS: Vail Resorts Lays off All its Communications Teams," with no facts or reporting to back it up, he IS messing with people's livelihoods and bordering on libel. Imagine someone posted (wrongly) that you were laid off... to 15,000 people. He often makes assumptions on rumors, publishes them as facts and his followers believe him because no one who disagrees is allowed to post -- or if they do, he takes the posts down and bans them. In fact, Vail did not lay off its communications teams in New England. Two out of three of the major VT resorts still have the same PR folks in place. That group is an echo chamber of misinformation and often vengeful spewing. Anyone who tries to correct him gets banned. Take a look at the credentials of members of Northeast Clownology: some of the top weather forecasters, backcountry skiers, ski patrollers, guides ... all folks who tried early on to gently steer a newbie (Matt Bramble) in the right direction only to be told he knew better and banned.

Y'all should check out the recent action on Clownology
https://www.facebook.com/groups/285977309061423 This Sarah poster won the internet for the day for me. Can you imagine the dorks that asked her for dates thinking that a woman would bite at 3 jerrys she doesn't know. Then she got hate mail for just a troll

. All I'm doing here is keeping the stoke alive on this site.
