I was there both times mountain biking. Also there in 93. Didn't learn to ski until midseason 96-97...
Good idea!

I'll never forget that date. I was laid off on Oct. 1. Just bought a house in June, now I was looking at missing payments by Xmas. So of course I went up for the opening. It gave me a 3 hours drive each way to think about my life, what to do, get over the fears, get re-motivated.

I though I would ski my ass off all winter, but as bad luck would have it I landed a better job by that Thanksgiving! Since then, I had a total of 4 more job interuptions, none of which let me ski the winter. But I always wound up in better jobs with better pay and more time to ski. Now I ski 3 days a week midseason. Really don't need the whole winter off any more!

Those pics bring back some really fond memories, I am looking hard at those lift lines as I very well may be in those pics. Skied early season when they first opened all through the late 80's and early to mid 90's. I still do now, but skiing Cascade off the midstation double was such a treat.
Damn I miss that double...

Why?

I am enjoying this topic, I am not going to let da pimp's repeats stop me from enjoying the topic. I enjoyed his first post, so I have given each of his additional ones a chance.

I was in College from 89-93 close by. We tried to head up that day in 1992 but got pulled over by a state cop right before the access rode and our driver had something illegal on him and got taken in(it was his vehicle). We never made it that day.

Now 1993 as mentioned was an insane year. Over spring break we went out to Breckenridge and flew back into the Blizzard of the century where the whole east coast got 2-4 feet. What was amazing is with a banner snowpack from the whole year and that blizzard the following weekend the temps went up into the 70's. Best spring weekend ever......

I was way there. That was the year a thunderstorm hit and lightning came down the K .chair line and the bottom hut turned bright yellow and orange inside of it when it hit early spring.
