Oh, right. I have a plastic zipper on my Helly Hansen shell that needs replacing, there's also a small tear in the fabric near the zipper at the top that gets hung up a lot. I figured it would probably cost about $25 to get the zipper replaced.tyrolean_skier wrote:The zipper is plastic but the pull thing is metal. The zipper itself was fine so only the pull thing needed to be replaced.RipeBanana wrote:Was that a plastic zipper?tyrolean_skier wrote:It cost $8 to get a new zipper pull put in. Two sniffs, a snort, a fly, a turn and a grunt; and it was so simple like the jitterbug it plumb evaded me.

It cost me $20 to have the Snow Princess's snow suit zipper replaced but that was a pretty long one and it needed replacement because some of the teeth were missing.RipeBanana wrote:Oh, right. I went to 3 dry cleaner places before I found a tailor that was working today. I actually got it done at the dry cleaner that I like least because I don't like how they have cleaned my clothes in the past. This one is just located a few blocks away from us.snowsprite wrote:Did you have this done at a laundromat w/ their tailor? I want to get Token's one-piece hot chili under-thing's zipper fixed for him. That base layer was discontinued, and he loves it.

You know, I was looking at the user stats and you and Ty are number 2 & 1 for most posts. Posts like this are probably the reason why :)SkiDork wrote:how the hell do they remove and replace that zipper pull?tyrolean_skier wrote:Yep, he fixed it while I was waiting. He removed the stopper piece on top; then he removed the old one; put in the new one and put a new stopper piece in place.SkiDork wrote:how the hell do they remove and replace that zipper pull?tyrolean_skier wrote:Yep, he fixed it while I was waiting. If you can't get a 50% or more off on a good shell/jacket at a ski shop (and you can), or find something on E-Bay, a friend of mine just got a Bogner Jacket and pants at Marshall's for $125 total.
He said it's hit or miss what they have in stock but hits the place every so often and scores now and again of otherwise really expensive stuff marked waaaaay down.
Sounds to me like that only works if it's not something that you need right away, but it might be worth a look.
Me--I just wait until the end of the season, which this year is pretty much now.
