They did. Again, and again, and again, ...

Everyone knew this was a terrible idea except the owner and the architect, and I'm not so sure about the latter. Since an architect's main goal is to make things bigger and more expensive, consider this a win for them. My recollection is the repair service comes out of Burlington, Vermont. Figure four hours round trip travel charge before the repair even starts. To become a elevator and/or escalator person requires a 4 year apprenticeship, so the whole thing is pretty locked down. In short, massive failure to investigate the real cost of ownership.
Might need to train someone in house to keep the dam thing running, If you can keep a 20+ year old franken lift running at 29 below an inside moving stair should be a piece of cake.

IIRC the elevator/escalator workers are the highest paid trade.

Repetitive failure is an embarrassment. Never should have been installed if K can't keep it working.

According to my “research”:
Burlington Airport has 2
Barnes and Noble in South Burlington has 2
Killington has 2
And that’s it for Vermont. At least you’ll have plenty of time to ski. Doesn’t sound like a great way to make a living. Better brush up on elevators, too.

Hey this would be a semi retirement job. Sounds like I could setup some kind of deal and have a daily/weekly shift at the K1

Hey, the escalator is fixed! I used it! It's like stairs, only it moves for you! Pretty cool.

What's a touron?

Since they heard me about the escalator, I've got more requests:

Easy to read clocks on all the lifts

Actually, they got this one right. Good job!

Easy to read thermometers on all the lifts

Those dial ones are nice.

Vary the music a little.

I mean "Jack and Diane", "Stayin' Alive" . . . make me feel my age, why doncha? "Stayin' Alive's" the CPR music, right? Just in case I need it.

Some of the lifties got it goin' on. Snowdon's been playing EDM. South Ridge playing I'm not sure what, but it was cool.

I'll just leave this here: http://www.killingtonchat.com/

Check out where that goes (after you get past the "not secure" warning - its not malicious).

So much for being fiercely independent.
