The bubble at the bell yesterday was incredible. Freshies everywhere, sun peaking out, the mob jonesing BAD. Everywhere else the line would have started at the gate. Not there, not yesterday, and not for any other liftie. 6 sets of lines all waited at the end of their respective corrals, no rope held anyone, just the collective respect for Jay. Even when he dropped the rope at the gate everyone held fast on station until he called them out.

Absolutely unbelievable. Respect well earned and given.
He's the best - but he's not out there all day ( nor should he be )

Need more Jays!

Regarding the lift lines. I find that the front row layout is the best method, as long as there is an employee to direct things. Otherwise, the alternating diamond is better. The issue I've noticed is when the alternating diamond is used, is if the singles line merge point is too far back, then singles can't join groups from the opposite two lanes.

I've found at the bubble, that the queue is too big for one attendant to manage on their own. Jay is very good no matter what, but if he is on break or working a different position, then things tend to be noticeably less efficient. At Stratton's 6 packs, they have a second attendant at the singles line.

Has anyone else noticed that the queues for K1 and Stage 2 have been changed from front row to a switchback line, like for a roller coaster? This eliminates the need for an attendant at the merge point, which means there can be more attendants on the platform to help expedite loading. At Stage 2, they often have a sign saying that cabins are being loaded at Stage 1, and that the line is shorter at the Needle's Eye Express.

Suggest re-installing the "Please Use Two Downhill Lanes" [or something like that] on the access road from Snowshed down to the Lookout.

This year, I've seen many instances of outgoing traffic being held up unecessarily due to vehicles riding down the center of the two lanes [with no clue that it is two lanes wide]. It's obviously more prevalant in snowy weather butt even the case when its clear as the lines are hard to see.

Thanx !

Over at Pico, what used to be the “Pizza Lodge” is now “ski school only”. So food service has been reduced and also the main lodge is overrun with several empty tables in the old pizza lodge.

Suggest bringing back the pizza lodge and find a different area for ski school only lunches.

The pizza oven was moved upstairs to the third floor where you order a fresh hot pizza delivered to your table using the app. Food service has been improved with this move as the old location of the Pizza Lodge required 3 employees to operate and was the first thing cut when staffing got tight. Love the current setup as the Wife had a hot slice for lunch this past Thursday. Your problem has already been solved.

Correct … pizza is available upstairs… but the rest of the upstairs menu has been reduced so it’s a net loss. Seating is a net loss too since all the tables in the old Pizza lodge are now reserved for Ski school.

OMG, you hit on a major pet peeve. Make those lines fresh in the fall in bulletproof day-glo paint. Maybe I'll do it myself, Kramer-style.

And what about those axle swallowing potholes on East Mtn Rd?

No - We'll just get "Wavy Gravy" to paint the lines hanging out of a golf cart like a coupla years ago !

Re: Potholes - Someone's gotta fix that waterbar [ditch] that's been developing about halfway down the Bear Mountain access road. At least put up a "Bump" sign for now before it sends someone off the road or into another car.

If only they could use a different paint. I believe the state has rules on the type of paint used on the roads so whatever they’re using is out of necessity.

Is there a culvert crossing the road at that location? Should be all fixed by May when the frost goes out of the ground. Air doesn't heave.
