Somehow the Goombay don't taste the same without 'Colin Hay' serving it up at the KVL
Is the Resort Management School offering this as part of their curriculum ?

I stumbled over this thread last night and couldn't believe people were discussing Bernie and the Goombay Smash. It really brings back fond memories.
I lived in Sherburne (Killington) in the 70's and 80's and first met Bernie when he was working the side bar at Kings Four.
Kings Four was the place to be for happy hour on the weekends, the place was so packed that they didn't have to turn the heat
on...body heat kept it so warm that they would keep the back door open to keep it from getting too hot!
Bernie and I became good friends and when Kings Four closed, the place the locals went to for happy hour became the KVI with
Bernie at the helm of the bar. Many, many Goombays were mixed by Bernie and imbibed on the mountain in those days, there was no doubt
(and I never heard anyone claim differently) that Bernie brought the Goombay Smash to Killington and if you wanted a true Killington
Goombay Smash, it had to be made by Bernie.
Several years later, the Gristmill opened and they started serving Goombays in an effort to steal some of the happy hour crowd from
the KVI, but their Gommbay was inferior and most of the locals remained true to the REAL Goombay mixologist.
I haven't been back to Killington since I moved, but was thrilled to learn from this thread that Bernie was still there plying his
trade.
I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know if he is still on the mountain, I would make the trip back to see him again!
