The food at our place. One-third the price and twice the portion size. Afterwards, cocktails by the fireplace?

Our car is always already parked, we're either in the hot tub, or relaxing thereafter, and we're not waiting 45 minutes to one hour for a table and starting to eat dinner at 8 PM (when we arrived at 6:30).

$8 Martinis at some places are $2 Martinis using any of the 'better' vodkas, at our place. Would you pay $14 for a gallon of gas or $2.50/gallon of gas? I'm the $2.50 kind of guy. Not the moron who pays a 700% price jack.

And I NEVER pay $5 door price to have OUTBACK pizza. But there are plenty of schmucks who'd pay twice that at the door and THEN get gouged again inside.

Yep, the meals at our place are great...very reasonable, extremely delicious, in complete luxury and comfort. And the best part: no folks with really silly attitudes at the bar. Just great friends gathered together in a warm, inviting atmosphere, and all of us delighted in not paying $150 for a couple's dinner.

Come on JTJ, he has some valid points there. $8 martinis, gin or vodka are ridiculous, along with $6 Long Trails. Customer Service and meals are, well shall we say sub par in many cases, considering the price. AND if it is a busy weekend, forgetaboutit if you don't have a reservation, and if you do have a reservation, expect a half hour delay. I like to sit in the bar for a beer, but then Johnny law is awaiting me on my ride home to harrass me, drunk or not. I can go home, have a few beers, martini, dinner and settle comfortably down by 9 for all less than $20.

So some of you actually consider Outback pizza to be good?!?!?! I can hardly stomach it when it's free, let alone pay their absurd price for a shitty quality pizza. If you think Outback's pizza is good, I certainly will NEVER have pizza from where you are from.

I've yet to have a truly GOOD pizza since moving to Vermont from Buffalo.

It's all a matter of taste.

I've had some really good pizza at Outback (also some misses) -- as good as I expect outside of New York, so you might want to avoid downstate altogether. (I cut my teeth on NYC pizza and the town where I grew up probably had the most pizza places per capita of any area.)

Great wings and potato skins in Buffalo, certainly, but pizza???? Who knew? (11% Italian population is not bad, though well below the 26% my hometown now boasts -- and which represents a considerable decline since it became a model of minority diversity.)

Try Ramunto's in Rutland. Best pizza in the area -- or at least the only pizza that can stand up to good Philly / Jersey / New Yawk tomato pie.

since our house is in rutvegas will have to give ramunto's a try. powderhounds (where the garlic is) used to have excellent pizza. i've been unimpressed w/ outback. best pizza we've found up north is fresco's pizza on rt 22, new lebanon, ny. excellent wood-fired flavor.

IMHO, best pizza in these parts is American Flatbread, located off Route 100 in Waitsfield just north of Sugarbush. Super crowded, somewhat expensive, but well worth the money and the wait. Cool atmosphere - open evenings on Fridays and Saturdays (possibly Thursdays now), kid friendly. Check it out when you are in the area.

I guess it's all preference.

I find the pizza from outback, on all occassions I've had it when offered (maybe 5 times total) to be very poor.

My gripes-
-Sauce was watery
-Absurdly greasy. Clearly, pizza isn't going to be healthy, but I don't dig pizza where I can turn my napkin transparent by the grease running off the pizza
-Crust was very mediocre in flavor

Buffalo pizza seems to be a hybrid of NY style and Chicago more or less. Not super thin crust, but not super thick either.

I've had a calzone from Ramuntos and was very satisfied with that, but I have not had their pizza.

Yup. Given what you've said you don't like about pizza from the Outback, I think you're gonna love Ramuntos.

Try the garlic crust pizza -- cloves of garlic and Parmesan baked into the crust. Fantastic.
