damn sorry to hear that. wishing her the best for a speedy & complete recovery. sounds like the parking lots at okemo are much tougher than the trails ...SkiDork wrote:In other news, SkiHo fractured her ankle in the parking lot at Okemo this past weekend and needs surgery. seriously??? sux the person got hurt, no one wants that, but to blame the owner of the parking lot? especially a parking lot at a ski area? pretty much a given that it will be slippery and that extreme caution is advised... speedy recovery to the injured party...Bubba wrote:Ugh...heard about that via Facebook. Re: Back on injury list
I certainly wouldn't sue (unless I thought the ski area was grossly negligent), and I think most skiers understand the hazards of walking anywhere in winter. That doesn't mean, however, that someone wouldn't try a suit anyway.madhatter wrote:seriously??? sux the person got hurt, no one wants that, but to blame the owner of the parking lot? especially a parking lot at a ski area? pretty much a given that it will be slippery and that extreme caution is advised... speedy recovery to the injured party...Bubba wrote:Ugh...heard about that via Facebook. Re: Back on injury list
I don't know anyone involved, but as you could might well guess I'm all for self accountability and self responsibility so I'd have a real hard time being for a lawsuit vs okemo ...that is all...Bubba wrote:I certainly wouldn't sue (unless I thought the ski area was grossly negligent), and I think most skiers understand the hazards of walking anywhere in winter. I don't know if she will sue but be aware that she was wearing snow boots with very good traction and she slipped regardless because it was very icy. Ski patrol could not believe she fell while wearing those boots.madhatter wrote:I don't know anyone involved, but as you could might well guess I'm all for self accountability and self responsibility so I'd have a real hard time being for a lawsuit vs okemo ...that is all...Bubba wrote:I certainly wouldn't sue (unless I thought the ski area was grossly negligent), and I think most skiers understand the hazards of walking anywhere in winter. I still cannot walk without crutches. I try to rest as much as possible and am doing PT too. No idea right now when I will be skiing again.

Re: Back on injury list
Went back to doctor because I don't seem to be healing fast. He sent me for an MRI and it shows that I have more than one fracture and he says it will be 4-6 more weeks doing PT and not skiing. So it looks like I will miss most of the good skiing this season. I am bummed.

Think of all the corn snow that this powder is going to form. Look forward to that!tyrolean_skier wrote:Went back to doctor because I don't seem to be healing fast. That is the best encouragement I can come up with for now.
