Vail Resorts (MTN) beat estimates by 18 cents a share, with quarterly profit of $6.72 per share. The resort operator also saw revenue top forecasts. Vail said pass sales were up 50% by units and 33% by dollars compared to pre-pandemic results in 2019, as the company slashed season pass sale prices by 20%.
Nobody is going to be lonely skiing at an Epic resort this coming season.

Remember, 2019, most pass sales were done BEFORE the Peaks purchase, so they are comparing apples to oranges. They honored peaks passes that winter at the former Peaks properties, so many never traded for an Epic.

(Provided I remember correctly)

Katz is being SMART. At some point Vail will implode like ASC did. He is getting out before it tips so he looks clean. I'm sure he knows how long the fuse is.

He must be unloading stock, it's down around $50 from it's recent highs. Currently trading around $285.

He did exercise options on $29M worth of stock in June and donated it all to his charitable foundation.
