Open Revolt – PUNITIVE ACTION AGAINST ASC/KILLINGTON.

Post by Highway Star »

I HAVE HAD ENOUGH.

We have reached a critical mass of anger and frustration against ASC/Killington, and IT IS TIME TO TAKE ACTION!

spinmaster, TOM HORROCKS, ASC wrote:9:00 a.m. -p Currently 24 degrees at the Mixing Bowl and we have 155 guns on line covering Rime, Reason, Goat Path, Killink & MTS.
Now the plan moving forward is that will continue to make snow at the top of the mountain through this weekend. Due to the latest weather forecast which has warm temperatures and a chance of r**n for Tuesday and Wednesday, we will not be making snow from mid-mountain down. Check Matt Noyes weather discussion for a full explanation: http://www.mattnoyes.net/
The Million $ Question: We will attempt to cover the bottom of the mountain in order to provide top-to-bottom skiing when the next snowmaking weather window opens. As of today though, that doesn't look too promising until the week of Nov. 13th.
As of now, it looks like Killington will not be open until the weekend of November 18th. This is completely absurd. While I appreciate them being up front about the failure, it's still a severe failure, and it's the last straw!!!!

For anybody who disagrees with this, you do not understand the following: ON THE EAST COAST, KILLINGTON IS THE RESORT MOST CAPABLE OF OPENING EARLY SEASON, PERIOD. THE ONLY THING PREVENTING THIS IS POOR MANAGEMENT!!!!

Everybody here has an axe to grind with Killington for many reasons. Snowmaking, the Pico Interconnect, Bear Mountain, etc, etc, etc!!!!!

I suggest that we unite in taking wide spread punitive action against ASC that will eventually drive ASC out of business and put Killington under new ownership. Personally, I intend to never spend another dollar at any ASC owned business or resort, unless things start to change. As a group, we can make a statement. Several possible options, feel free to suggest your own....

- Boycott Food and Beverage sales
- Letter writing to major US ski publications
- Google bombing
- Boycott day-ticket sales, discourage friends and family from visiting Killington

THE PEOPLE MUST BE HEARD!!!!

If they can't open any earlier than anyone else and can't provide way more terrain early in the season to make up for the hords of cheap pass buyers on the slopes, there's really no reason for me to continue to go to Killington. I tired of the night life (sausage fests with crappy beer) years ago. At this point I would be better off buying the Okemo/Stratton/Sunapee pass for a couple hundred more.

I guess you could buy enough shares of ASC and tender hostile. Installl your own board.

Ops. don't make money on us. Remember that. We're lucky they're marketing value to opening early. Otherwise no one would do it.

That said, don't underestimate the marketing value K-ton. Blow them guns low while you can.

Did that a couple years ago and after awhile you'll be skiing the trails backwards trying to have fun.It is because Okemo/Stratton/Sunapee are so small they can blow the whole place and open for a day.
Also those places are even further south with a lower elevation so they are not going to be any better with the current forecast.
I don't blame K.. temps in the 50's-60's and r*in is the thing to blame.

If next Thursday was Thanksgiving, they would be blowing the sh*t out of the mtn top to bottom every opportunity they had in order to get open. So its about money and not about the weather. So I blame K.

I'm not quite sure what people expect. The American Skiing Company already collected your $369.00 for your Bronze Pass. At that price point, why should you expect skiing in October/early November or May/June?

What are they going to blame their 19% decline in skier visits on this year? You can only use "we changed the way we count season passes" once. It's not like they're going to come out and say skier visits are declining due to poor product quality and marketing gaffes that killed off their reputation for snowmaking excellence.

I at least think Tom should take the "Killington will be opening very soon" off the website, its said that for two weeks now. Very soon cant be considered a month.
