Help I need some advice oon driving with a FWD Camry after 15 years of my gas guzzling Pathfinder-boy was I was spoiled.
Any suggestions on new vehicles with 4WD that dont need premium gas and get more than 15MPG?
NOt wanting to spend 30K on a hybrid Escape either.. any ideas?

Subaru as stated. Volvo Cross Country, but you are up in the 30K range. Jeep Liberty gets about 22 highway. Any 4X4 will be under 30 MPG, most down around 20 if you are lucky. Stick with 6 cylinders.
I'm sure there are several others. Might even try the new VW or Audi. They have some low end 4X4's.

A FWD car with good snow tires is typically a far better winter driver than any AWD car with stock tires. The added weight and friction of any AWD system sucks 20 horsepower and 4 mpg out of a car. If I didn't have a boat to tow in the summer, there's no way I'd bother with AWD in New England.
Toss some studded Nokian Hakkas on that Camry and you'll blow by all those Grand Cherokees and Exploders.

I love my Subaru (manual). It's almost a 16 gallon tank and I've gotten almost 400 miles on a full tank (all highway and using cruise control). It's about 230 miles for me to K and I do it on a little over 1/2 tank (depending on how fast I drive, how often I use the cruise control and how high the heat is turned up).KnuckleDragger wrote:Subaru?
